I think those people laughing are drunk ;)

But I do think that doing this kind of stuff in a different context can help you to improvise and improve your patter (including bad jokes)...

It is funny. But I'm not sure about this guy. I don't know what the Magic Castle is either. Am I missing something here? He looks phoney to me. Doesn't even hold a proper mechanics grip. I think any magician would hold a mechanics grip without even thinking about it. What is Magic Castle? A theatre for anyone that wants to perform? Or is this guy so good that he can make fun of magicians (hence himself) with the theatrical moves (reminds me a bit of how Jeff McBride moves on a stage) and patter? I don't believe this option. And, oh. I also think the audience is drunk.

The Magic Castle is a very prestigious magic club in California. It has a lot of magicians who perform during dinner, brunch, or other events. This guy was just a comedian. I'm sure he can do magic. You're required to so that you can perform...At least that's what the website says.

Thanks,

I think I missed the plot here - me and my missus just watched this and neither of us laughed :? .

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

You're not alone. I thinkin I missed something big time because the audience is in hysterics

Me too! I found him a bit annoying.
Maybe this humour doesn't translate well to the UK.
Give me Tommy Cooper for comedy magic any day!

That's why I think some of the audience members are drunk :)

I thought he was quite annoying at first.... but about half way through I found the whole story telling thing hillarious.

I think the reason i found it to be so funny is because there are alot of magicians that tell stories with their magic (like Bill Malone and his "sam the bellhop & the 654 club") and it does get a little repetitive sometimes. I thought this act was excellent in playfully making fun of story telling magicians.

I must say... his stupd jerky arm movements that he does a few times are really really annoying.

Edit: I just read the "Maybe this humour doesn't translate well to the UK" ... I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this but alot of the humor (as far as I know) in the UK is slapstick humor so I would think this would fit right it.

I loved it! Sure it was silly but really, not too far from the occasional reality of things (sadly)! :D

Oh it was a * take! In that case very good, I didn't realise for a bit and sat there stoney faced wishing I could have five minutes of my life back.

I still wished I had them. Thinking more about it I don't see the point. But maybe that's me, the newbie...
