Opening an ebay store

Postby Johnny Bravo » Mar 31st, '07, 04:38

I recently bought a wholesale job lot of new magic tricks, around 60 different effects.
1, for the sheer fun of going through this stuff & grabbing anything I want
2, to sell on & hopefully make a small profit.

I'm just in the process of writing out all the blurb & then plan to open up an ebay shop to sell all this stuff, as I understand its cheaper to sell this type of quantity via a shop than individual listings.

Anyway why I'm saying this is once I have it all ready I'd like to be able to mention it here with a link to my shop pages & to offer all talk magic forum users a discount between 15 - 25% (haven't decided which amount yet) :D

So would I be allowed to place a link in the trading post section or is this something that would not be appreciated, could a moddy let me know?

Yours darn respectfully.

P.S. Dr Who back on in 14 1/2 hours, wahooooooooooo :P

I'd certainly like to see what you've got to sell and I don't see that this would / should be a problem. You're a member who has contributed to TM for some time rather than one of those who just appear to post a sales blurb.

Ge the list up asap! I'm sure that in this case the Mods won't disapprove.

It's been great fun going through this stuff & adapting bits & pieces to my own performance but it's a bit of a chore scouring the net for descriptions, pictures, working out postage prices etc.

Am about a 3rd of the way through but provided no mods object in the meantime will place a link in the trading post when I'm ready, prob in a week to 10 days.

Sorry to put the dampeners on but we've had to delete or edit postings in the past which link to e-bay sales of similar commercial status. Whilst I'm sure this case would be handled far more professionally than others, if we condoned or promoted such a link now it would give the moaners a strong argument over letting all other links/promotions be posted. It's for this reason we had to limit the Trading Area to approved members only.

I'd be interested in seeing what you've got for sale, perhaps you could just send the link via a PM to people who are interested, rather than post a link?

I understand Mandrake which is why I wanted to check this out first so I didn't pee anybody off, would it be okay to mention it in the trading post & PM people who ask a link to the store?

Ahhh, no I've never heard of that, bit like a catalogue but in reverse.

Yes would be okay with that.

No, no coin stuff though, will PM you a list when ready. :)

Technically that would be the same as promoting an e-bay link but this thread is giving the idea an airing anyway. There might be a way to 'innocently' make mention in the Trading Area - will mull over the finer points of TM Law and try to find the loophole :D !

Too anyone who has been following this thread & awaiting to hear from me.

After getting around 40 off the effects listed, my copy of turbo lister decided to balls up & a re-install was needed & for some reason the back up only had 10 off the effect listed. So I'm almost back at the beginning. Not a happy person right now

Will get back to everyone who has contacted me at some point, hopefully this year... :)
