If you were asked in an important situation to do just one effect that would fool people badly what would it be?
I'm just askingas I was watching a Sankey Demo the other day and he said that if his life depended on fooling someone badly he would do Paperclipped.

For me it would either be my Liquid metal / banachek fork bending combo or Nicholas Einhorns Spooked

A good sucker effect, the type where you seem to be teaching the spec a trick, only to spin it around at the end. I love those as the end effect is so unexpected it gets far better reactions than anything else.

The one in particular I'd perform is one where I have each specs attempt to cut a number of cards of their choosing with the idea that I'm teaching them a trick and then do a reavel using the top cards of their packets.

A few of my own card effects are amongst my favorites, but if I had to go with one trick that would fool an audience very badly....

Bobo's Higher Mentality. In my opinion, this is one of the greatest card effects I have ever come across. It's perfect in almost every sense of the word.

Crazy Man's Handcuffs or Kolossal Killer. But the one I use most often is Hunter's Impossible Knot.

I second CMH. Done right it baffles 98% of people. I can state that as a fairly reliable statistic because I've performed the routine more than any other trick, literally at least 200 times on 'real people' as Sankey himself would say and no one has ever come close to the method. The ones that have spotted anything at all can be counted on one hand.

I'm not sure what it's called. What happens is I force the Ace of Spades onto a spectator as their card of choice. Then I deal through the deck and reveal not only their card, but the other three aces and the 2-7 of spades.
