Complete course in magic

Postby sarconi » Apr 10th, '07, 16:20

Hi all,
I'm considering purchasing Mark Wilson's CCM. However I already own Modern Coin Magic and The Royal Road to Card Magic, is Mark Wilson's book really worth investing in? Ive seen nothing but good reviews, although some say that its really a book for the raw beginner? is this so? and would you recommend it?
thanks for any and all answers

I think everyone, not just a beginner could enjoy this book as it has many different kinds of magic, you have just about everything in there. It's really a must have book if you're into magic!

Mark Wilson is brilliant, I'd even go so far as to say I'd have his babies after everything I've learnt from that book  :D

It's a brilliant book which covers just so many areas of magic. Some people say the effects are dated, maybe they are, maybe not but with a little thought and imagination you can use anything from that book to build a routine that suits you.

I'd recommend this book to anyone, there's something in there for everyone regardless of the sort of magic that you perform or if you're a beginner or experienced magician.

Anyone who doesn't own this book, make it your next buy!

I can just reiterate the above comments - this is an excellent book and for the price, you can't really go wrong as there are effects in here you WILL use.
The card section, in particular, is excellent and covers quite a bit. I would say it's worth it for that alone, but there is also a superb section on coins, illusions, etc. Well worh it.

Go on! You know you want it!

The only other books I cherish as much, for the scope and amount of good effects within, are the Tarbell Course series.

A woman said to me once 'would you like to have my babies?', she was gorgeous, so I said yes, I'd love to.

I woke up the next day and there was 2 of them on my doorstep!

I'll get my coat..

Back on topic, Mark Wilsons book is a fantastic place to start if you're interested in getting into magic, and gives you an overview of various disciplines, such as coins, cards, elastic bands etc.

Buy it, it'll be money well spent in my opinion!

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but even if it's not, you can adapt the ideas. He's got a good cups and balls routine which could easily be adapted to your spiky cups and balls, Marvell. I've taken his Svangali stampbook and a trick where a selected card appears inside a photo frame and adapted them to be used in my spooky Black Bob routine.

With a little thought and imagination I think that anyone, even you Marvell can make use of his ideas.

Nani has read this and she says u can have him! She already had two of his babies.

It is a great book, and you can get it autographed by the man (and Nani but don't mention this thread) from their website at http://www.markwilsonmagic.com
In additon many more Mark Wilson items there. If you ever get to the Magic Castle , Mark runs the Magic University there, his classes are great.

This is what so many people say. Why buy a book that's inappropriate so you can change the things to suit you. Why not just buy a book that suits you?

well It arrived, sadly I was disappointed. Not in the quality of the book though :P I've been given a paperback when I ordered the hardback *sigh* although I don't think I can be bothered with the hassle of returning it. I've only been able to glance at the book looks to me like it contains a wealth of knowledge.
:)

Hmmm well when you adapt the ideas, they become your own, you can add your own flare and patter

Your probably better off with the paperback - it has an extra chapter which is missing from the hardback. I can't remember the title, as I only have the hardback, but it's the one which includes Tic-Tac-Toe.
