Hmm just watched it...

What else can i say...he's like one of them kids that is probably a tough kid in front of his mates but lost for words in front of a stranger...

The presentation was just cringe worthy to the max, the tricks weren't smooth and now I'm just lost for words...

But no matter what you guys think about his chavyness or unchavyness, he's just not a good performer period...

I think you should just go back to your paul daniels set...or at least try to speak in less of a monotone voice

The real magic was performed by his management.
Misdirecting the BBC bosses as they made a mediocre magician appear before their eyes on a major television show!
I suppose it proves with the right agents behind you, any of us, no matter how poor, could land a big tv spot. Maybe he was nervous, but a gimmicked deck as one of the items on a big tv spot was weak.
If he had to, he should have used the ID, but then again, David Blaine has already used these many times.
The originality, I'm afraid, is his 'street' image rather than his effects.

I have seen Max Somerset peform live, and not only is he an excellent magician, he is great with people and witty. He would have been a better bet for the JR show and would have caused more of a reaction with the public.

I've seen Max on Tv and he is very good I did like the bill switch with the Parking ticket he done "How much is this worth? £50? Why thank you".

It's a great show. Chris Lee who plays Sven on the show is also an excellent magician. I have shared a bill with him many times and he always holds and audiences attention and is very likeable.
I have seen him compere, telling jokes and doing magic and he was superb. There are some great magicians out there, they just need the right agents!

I agree with everything that Lord Freddie has said in his posts. Presentation was poor and his nerves showed. The performance was fragmented and lacked ANY wow factor.

Max is a very natural magician and great with an audience of strangers. I'd rather watch him anyday.

I also like Maxs look, Like a rather posh tramp. If only he got a push but there is very little magic on tv now days and from the sounds of it Dynamo didnt do anything to want people to put it on more.

He did use the ID...When Wossy introduced his guests at the start he asked him to show him something on the screen...he went straight for the I.D.

All i can think about is how it must have been for all them celebs sitting in that green room with him...i bet his mouth didn't open once...

Now that i think about it, it did look like a kid doing tricks, i mean there was no rhythm to it at all and i mean if your planning exactly what your going to do, try and at least make it look like everything is improvised.

Unfortunately, he couldn't do that at all. The reason it made me cringe so much is i was thinking, this is exactly how i was when i was interested in magic at 12.

On the other hand, when he performed the bit where John Woss had to lift him, i think he did that very well, it looked very good, but it was ruined when he opened his mouth.

Because he obviously wasn't funny and didn't know how to make a joke, he in the end kind of started insulting woss instead, which was just stupid.

At the end of the day, he shouldn't be performing magic period, nor should he even be on tv because for me if you can't act you can't act just like when you can't sing, you just can't sing.

On one final note: He's a chav :P Joke.

But for me that is not a way to appeal to younger people. If i dressed up now in my best jogging bottoms and went into a council state trying to show someone a trick, I'd get the * ripped out of me. Two reasons. 1 - I wouldn't be able to pretend i was a wigga or whatever you want to call it (just like Dynamo can't) and 2 - People on a council estate would rip the * out of me for being a 'wigga' and doing magic tricks.

Kids today are impressed by anyone doing magic tricks, as long as they have a good patter and presentation and can roll with the punches (which obviously, Dynamo can't) so i can't really see him walking onto a council estate and being accept...i think many of us could do a better job. Just because kids dress in jogging bottoms that fall half way down their a**e, doesn't men the only way we would appeal to them is through the same manner. Footballers don't dress like that, they have family and kids, but they still appeal to kids world wide. Look how many 15 to 16 year olds are on this site who take an interest in the likes osterlind, maven, hilford and so many more. We don't need a guy dressed in clothes 2 sizes two big for him to make magic what it is. In fact i think it as rather an insult even if it isn't meant to be

It doesn't matter if he is a chav or if he is some hip hop dance master, because either way he'd act exactly the same in either situation.

It annoys me to see how the people that actually would make a lot of difference to the magic scene are hidden in the shadows.

I wish him the best of luck, as he's doing what a lot of us want to be doing. The presentational style is not to my liking and he certainly needs to work on his patter, but he's getting some good exposure which hopefully would be good for magic.
It's a shame that excellent shows like Max Magic are hidden away on Sky 3.
