One thing i will disagree with you on Freddie is the use of a gimmicked deck. For me personally, if your going to try and wow a celebrity in the space of 5 or 10 minutes, I'd leave my cards at home. But, i think in a performance,no matter how big it is, the use of a gimmicked deck is acceptable as long as you have the presentation, if you have the presentation down then the deck will still produce a great reaction.

Though for me sadly, Dynamo was simply relying on the gimmick itself doing the work for him, i don't think he put any effort into his performance whatsoever.

Wossy obviously didn't want him on that long as all he did was show some stuff and head off. I guess we should all be grateful that he wasn't on longer and didn't say much more

At the end of the day, the problem was that Dynamo was on a talk show and didn't have anything to say.

It must be daunting to do a show as big as that for the first time, but I saw Paul Daniels years ago on the Wheeltappers & Shunters, one of his first tv appearances and his patter with the audience was wonderful.
He was in complete control of the act and the audience, which only comes from experience such as performing in clubs which he had some years of under his belt.
It certainly paid off, as he was never stuck for words and was really funny. I was won over instantly.

Exactly.

You summed it up in one line. I must be doing something wrong...

It's a shame that excellent shows like Max Magic are hidden away on Sky 3.

i actually agree with you here!

I didn't see the show, but I am guessing poor old Dynamo suffered from being limelighted to soon, which could possibly be the fault of his management company.

Unfortunately, I do think that once his youf-foolness and novelty have gone, he may just fall by the wayside, so good luck to the fella in his current fame, as his days might be numbered once he's lost his niche.

Maybe he'll develop something which he will be remembered for.
If he works on stronger patter, he could be good, but that's what's missing.
Still, being on JR must have been nerve racking. Ross can be quite sarky at times. I'd feel more relaxed on the Dame Edna Experience!

I thought that he could have picked some better effects for a show with the profile of JR.

The ID and SAW (polo version on a chain) are performed up and down the country by many with far less experience than Dynamo. The reactions from those watching would likely have been - "I've seen that before, my mate etc. performs that". The camera also picked up the remains of the RC on his neck after he performed SAW

I think that he missed a great opportunity to show something a little more original and grab everyone's attention.

Freddie my man - Paul Daniels on Wheeltappers - I remember watching it. What a performer!

I agree DAT. Something a little more original would have been better. He showed tricks that would get great reactions on the street up close and personal, but audience couldn't really relate and just had to rely on Wossys reactions.

It just was a little awkward, like when he dropped the card and looped the other card too far. Easy mistakes but not ones that a 'professional' should be making.

I think when Wossy patronizes you by saying 'I don't know whether you were using strings there or there were ghosts helping...' then you know you could have done a better job.

Wossy must have seen dozens of magicians in his time and I'm sure that Dynamo won't be one that sticks in his mind for too long which is a shame.

I'd have rather seen someone like James Brown on Wossy who would have been in a different class.
