Business Cards

Postby ultimatecreate » Apr 24th, '07, 17:49

Hey all,

Apologies if this subject has been covered to death. Did a search and the results were so massive I thought Id begin a new thread.

I have my first corporate booking (after many a student ball and party) YIPPEE and need to invest in some decent business cards. I want them to have a magic theme as well as being of good quality and reasonably priced.

If anyone uses a particular company regularly Id love to hear from you.

So speak up! :D

Cheers,

Alex

Am yet to find a really good pic of myself performing magic and don't have a decent enough camera to go out to take pics. If anyone therefore uses an pic of the internet, let me know.

Looking for some funky designs.

Found this one, which is quite nice. Any thoughts? Only problem with vista is if you upload an image it has to be for the whole card at least and writing effectively over such a colourful pic may make it hard to read.

Or is there anyway of having the pic only covering half the card??

Cheers,

A

I have used vistaprint to produce my cards. If you want to have writing as well, simply put the picture into photoshop or similar and simply add the text round it, then save the new image and upload the whole lot.

I like the second of your images better - the former looks a little garish. My business card, below, is a lot simpler but I feel conveys all the relevant information. It isn't quite the up to date version - it has a different email address on. It is definite worthwhile spending time getting it right though, as you will buy hundreds and hand them out to potential clients. If you like my one and want some photoshop help I would be more than happy. Edit: Apologies for size of image!

A word of warning, you may want to check with the company that hired you to make sure they do not mind you handing out your business cards. I know from personal experience that some companies do not appreciate it and will not ask you back if you do (I know, it seems harsh, but it happens).

Also, look into Brad Christian's business card printer trick on his "How to do Street Magic" DVD. it's really cool once you've mastered it.

Vista Print are good. If you want to design your own card, you're best off creating the whole thing in photoshop and uploading it as a single image.

I've done a few cards through Vista so if you'd like a hand with anything feel free to drop me a PM :D
