Hey Snicket - good luck with the gig!

GIve us an idea what stuff yo alreay have, and what - out of that list - is a personal favourite.

It's quite difficult to just suggest effects, off-the-bat, without knowing what type of magic makes you buzz!

Alright lets see...
Cards, I love card tricks!!!! I also like fire tricks, I have one called Burnout. I have a Stripper Deck, Cheek to Cheek, Dissapearing deck, X Deck, Sponge Balls. But will the parents like those? What do they like most?

I think some disappearing coins and the coin matrix would be good.

Snicket is right,

You need a handfull of card effects (from a straight deck), also one with a fake deck such as the ID or the Nudist Deck (my favourite).

Some packet tricks (not too many), best ever is Card Warp. Then maybe one using the Ghost Count.

Coin effect has to be Hopping Halves. I use the 80 quid version from Keith Bennett, Silver Dollar and Chinese coin, well worth it.

Pen thro note has to be a must too. Also look at throwing a bit of mentalism in too.

Would you class Card Warp as a packet trick...? You could take out 2 seperate cards, but surly it's far stronger to palm the one "gaffed" card in + carry a few dupes in the deck...

There are some great adult versions of 3 card monte, wer you have two kings and a joker, you turn the cards over and the kings are blue backed and the joker green, the joker also has a whole in it for them to stick there finger through, so not to loose it. When the spectator turns there hand over there finger is produding from a comic mans never regions.......and the joker is nowere to be seen, I find this is funny as an adult gag routine. Also at international magic I know they do sponge balls to sponge c**k routine which also gets a good laugh. I particular use the bra removing trick, this is a corker of a trick specially at weddings etc or adult parties...This is available at Magibox i think.......

Hope thats what you were looking for, and its not to rude...lol

The best tip I can give you is stick with what you know and are comfortable with. A weak trick performed well is always better than a strong trick performed badly.

:D

20th Century Brassiere? It's a great gag piece, but I'd guess it depends upon how 'refined' Snicket's guests/relatives are - the older generation can still sometimes take offense at things like this

Snicket - Cards? Fire? You NEED to get Sankey's 'In a Flash' for this do - I promise you won't be disappointed :D (just remember to order some Fpaper at the same time, 'cause the effect doesn't come with any!)

With a little thought, it is easy to have the gaff in the deck and still perform one or two other card effects before taking out the gaff. It could even be "freely" selected with another selection.

not a fan of sigs, so I won't bother adding o..... oh

That's something that I do with a couple of my routines. I only ever use a couple of gaffed cards so it's quite easy to keep tabs on where those cards are in the deck and to make sure they don't pop up before they're meant to.

I like to store my gaffed cards inside the clear plastic that is wrapped around the box at the beginning. I usually take of the top section when I open a new deck and leave the bottom as it is. Then I can store a couple of gaffs in there just in case I need to call upon them. If I'm asked about them I just say that it is a joker.

As for your routine- As the Lady of Mystery said stick to what you know. No point trying to learn new stuff now in a hurry. But if you would like a few new tricks to pad your routine up a bit. Try and learn a few self workers were not much can go wrong.

Can anybody please help me? I'm having terrible problems controlling my streetmagic- I can't walk down a street without turning into a pub.

How old are they? If they are young it's all about vanishes and making things hover. (Loops went over big) Or tricks they can interact with. With my niece and nephew card tricks (which is what I focus on) were like "eeh, what ever" which reminded me the whole premise of card tricks is that people (at least older people) are familiar with them and assume there are only 52 and each is unique. Little kids I found out this holiday are a much different audiance. They get distracted easy, so unless your planing on dressing up like a clown and acting like a spaz, alot of tricks lose they're effect.

I also awkwardly enough learn my sister-in-law is really against magic.... yeah, like in a "We're not going to let them read Harry Potter" kinda way.
