routine review

Postby Figo » May 4th, '07, 12:15

hey everyone.

i've come up with a geek magic routine which I'm taking on the road in a few months i'd like to get some feedback on what people think if there is anything i should add or take away any funny lines would be appreciated too.

ok so i start off with a little funny explanation of geek magic.

then go into a balloon swallowing trick

then chewing on broken glass
then into human spitoon as feat in geek magic with tomas medina.

then thinking about a razor blade swallow (one of my favourite tricks and a routine I'm very comfortable with)

then finishing with a long build up to catch 22 Bullet catch.

i reackon, and a few other street performers have agreed with this, that it would work really well on the street and also in bars and clubs.

would like a magicians views on it and if they could add anything or take anything out.

all views happily accepted

cheers

:D

Sounds like a good collection of geek magic ....can they be called classics?

I digress

I think in order to make a judgement on the routine such elements such as length of performance, The patter to thread these effects together, the type of venue and your target audience all need to be figured in.
Having only read the bullet catch effect I wonder whether it is a finisher effect.
the other effects you have chosen are all pretty good with the right audience though. Good luck!

Sounds interesting, if you can get the patter and performance right to make the tricks flow into each other, it could be a good one. Best of luck with it :D

hey thanks for your input.

greedoniz i agree with your point about the bullet catch i think it requires the right build up the right amount of verbal set up and suspense for it to work. i think if it had all of these it would be a good finisher but i think i won't know until i try it out.

just out of curiosity do you know the names of any other geek tricks that would be better finishers would be most grateful.

thanks for your input lady of mystery i agree that i need the right flow into the tricks which i hope i have

:D

maybe when you are eating the glass you could mention that "some idiots actually try and catch bullets...im letting myself off lightly here..."

that way you are kinda priming them for the fact that a bullet catch is a thousand times more dangerous, and you wouldnt attempt it...but then you do at the end...

I don't know if you should do bullet catch out on the street. Might attract some unwanted attention.

i understand where your coming from. if your talking about the police i've talked to my sister who is a cop and she says it would be ok and i wouldn't be hassled. my philosopy is you have to try it on the street i don't know of anyone who does that trick on the street so i have to try.
