how to make friends and influence people by hypnosis

Postby tonyb82 » May 4th, '07, 15:45

Hi all

before i go off on one about how i am, my magic and why/how i got here, i have to say 'well done' this is a great site full of usefull info no matter what your level

ok..... sitting comfortably?.... then i'll begin

my name is Tony 'Removed' , which is a pain as 'Blaine' is so close i cant use it, im 25 from SE london uk, as a child i had loads of Marvins and Paul Daniels props book etc, then i hit the teens and suddenly lost interest oddly at 18 my college tutor like to perform a trick or two, to keep the students awake, from there i learned basic street magic, cards mainly with some coins, the came Darren Brown...... his stunts are good and work on some basic principles, but its the explanation ie NLP and Hypnosis to cover his real method

i guess i should add i wass also a fan of Paul Mckena (spellings sorry Paul!) and have tried to no avail, to learn Hypnosis, and the handshake etc if you could help in anyway PLEASE drop me a line.

i only do some tricks at parties if i feel there about to crash and burn, but also if im out in a bar and just want to liven things up

i am not that good in terms of things, but i have got some good mentalism tricks down to an art, but i do have something, which i will share to other street performers interested in NLP style cover ups. or maybe help with scripts?

above all i love to entertain, not for money or fame, just for that look, pure child like amazment.

Thanks for you time

Hi, sounds like you started out in a very similar way to me. I had a few Paul Daniels sets when I was little but lost interest when I hit about 14. Then got back into it again a couple of years ago.

I don't really know much about hypnosis but I'm sure someone could point you towards a good book or two.

Anyway, enough of my rambling, welcome to TM :D

Welcome!
Re; hypnosis, I have reviewed a rather good book by Ormond McGill in the book reviews section. I recommend that and Jonathon Chase's "Deeper & Deeper". Sleight of Mind is also worth looking at.

Hi Tony!

Welcome to TM... Re: Hypnosis 'Instant' Inductions...

It's not something you can just tell people how to do. As Lord Freddie said, read Ormond McGill's book for starters. Maybe do a quick course (I did a weekend course) and then, as anything else, practise, practise, practise.

For instant inductions - it's basically a break in normal pattern. This is something you have to be confident in. Again, it's not just something you can do!

Luke Jermay has a DVD coming out soon called "Inductions" which will cover the basics. But, don't think you can just go around doing it to every Tom, Dick and Harry!

I like Darren Brown too... But I prefer his brother, Derren

Good luck

I have a feeling we should not talk about hypnosis.

Hi, I'm very new here myself but having just read this thread I'd like to echo what "Timlic" has posted.

The induction is actually very easy but the secret is not in the actions as such but the lead up. I've used it a couple of times and it is quite dramatic but do be prepared for when it does not work - have an out! It tends to work best on more nervous people who are likely to be somewhat more susceptible. Best advice if you want to use hypnosis effects in your act would be to get some practical training from someone - books alone never compare to good teaching.
