before you do a system restore and I'm not sure if you can do it in vista but try dropping down into safe mode and do your scans, this can sometimes cure some nasties lurking in protected files normaly well protected by windows.

Reminds me of this time at college. The computers were dead slow and full of spyware because someone had been looking at porn and someone tried to google something completely innocent and every website it came up with had something to do with porn and she complained to the tutor and he said "well I don't control the internet"

I think first you should do a system restore which has been said above. After you've gotten that sorted out, to protect yourself in the furture, you should get Norton Antivirus software here: http://shop.symantecstore.com/store/sym ... eID.106300 . It doesn't cost as much as some other softwares but it is highly effective. I've luckily had as sometimes I've almost been infected with trojan viruses and this has successfully terminated it.
