Need a closer for ACR

Postby kitaristi0 » May 7th, '07, 18:54

I was thinking of ways to spice up my ambitious card routine today and came up with this. Nothing revolutionary of course, but a lot funner for me and hopefully the spectator too.

I wish I had a camera to record it but since I don't I'll just explain it briefly.

It starts with a card selected and left protruding in the middle of the deck. I show the top card of the deck (an indifferent card), push the selected card into the middle of the deck and then reveal the top card I've been holding all this time to be the selection. I place the selection on the table, do a magical gesture and the card changes, to have the selection appear in my front trouser pocket. I lose the card in the deck and then have it appear in my back trouser pocket. I do a quick card-to-mouth where the spectator gets to push what he thinks is the selection into the deck only to have it appear in my mouth.

This is where I'm stuck. Generally I end my ACR with the trusty old Braue Pop-Up Move, but I'm wondering if there was something a bit more flashy that I could do instead.

The Psychological Deck Vanish from James Brown's Pot of Jam DVD seems like it could be a good closer, though the whole psychological aspect of the trick probably wouldn't really be relevant at the end of an ACR. Something in the "whole deck vanishes except for the selection" area could be appropriate, but I'm interested to hear any other ideas as well.

Funny you shoul mention deck vanishes, I end my ACR with a complete vanish except for the selection now and it's absolutely wonderful. Otherwise I predict lots of people saying Paperclipped or card-to-wallet etc.

Well Braue pop-up move may not be flashy to you, but to a total layman it is one of the most fantastic moves in the ACR. I think very little could beat it, except may a face up pass to the top. Although, with your card going to your pocket to other pockets to mouth and all that will reduce the reaction you would have receivied on the pop-up move.

Maybe take it to a much further place. I saw someone with a folded, ripped, signed card in a paper clip, in an envelope, in your wallet which is in your pocket. Cant remember where I saw it but something like that would be good.

I think a snap change of an indifferent card to the selected card would be great.

You could do a torn and restored on it to show that it really is an ambitous card.

i usually end my ACR with torn by daniel garcia or i rip up the card by accident and then have it appear in the specs shoe a little while later. you could do a whole deck vanish such as have the card lost in the deck then proceed to pull a card out of your pocket but it's the wrong card do it again and again and keep getting it wrong then pull the entire deck from your pocket while holding the selected card in your other hand really killer closer

Get that James Brown dvd out and end your ACR with card under watch.
Definitely the way to, best reactions i've ever gotten.

Card under watch would be good but I'd say maybe 2% of the people I perform for regularly have a watch.

Get the DVD anyway, its stunning, some REAL worker on there.

I usually end mine with card to my own wallet but I might now use the Horwitz wallet tohave it happen in the specs pocket, not my own.

Recently Iv had the specs card appear back in the card box as a closer.

Tornis definately a great finsiher though, its one of the few times Im prepared to tear my cards up.

ok yes i can se where that might prove a difficulty
Card into wrist flesh would be SO much less popular.
I forget as a restaurant magician i have a far greater choice of spectator.
Still, a quick glance at the wrist at the beginning will tell you if they're wearing a watch and card under watch is so easy to do for such strong impact i still think you should use it whenever you can.
When they're is no watch i quite like your suggestion of using the psychological deck vanish.
The idea of using Torn interests me but its quite a slow time consuming process which wouldn't fit well at the close of my own, fast paced ACR, and sounds like the same issues would be relevant with yours.

Maybe do card to pocket a few times. Then deck to pocket except for their card.

I've nicked the idea from the Svengali routine in "Get Nyman", of giving the card a 'snap' and an AA battery falling out of it.

I love the rediculousness of the idea of the ACR selection being battery powered.
