Don't make it permanent - perhaps just work on having two months off or something like that?

Well, that sucks.

But, and I'll tell you truthfully, when I was in my early 20s, I had to walk away from magic, completely, because of certain circumstances. While I'm sure that they are different to yours, I can fully understand your need and your desire. A man's got to have his priorities.

I was out for 5 years before I decided to come back.

Further, it is a normal thing for magicians to walk away from magic and return at a later date. Just one example - Eugene Burger. Look at where he's at now...

You take care, my Brother.

Mike.

For some reason after reading Bronz's poll about which foot to put forward (hilarious) I'm hoping this is a joke too (because there have been other comical characters that have hinted at things such as this recently).

Anyway, hopefully you're leading us on.... but if not, good luck and all the best in getting back what you may have lost (I have an idea what that could be). Hopefully one day soon you'll be able to find some kind of balance with all things that are important in your life.

No it's not my house dude.. my CUPS wasnt that out of control

Hopefull I can take it back up one day and continue working on the two effects I sank my teeth into creating. At the mo, any kind of 'magical' activity will only be to my detriment so its best to put it aside and focus on what's currently important

I wish you the very best ID. We haven't spoken much but reading what you have had to say has been comical, enlightening, but more importantly inspiring. Thank you for that.

Keep well and good luck!

it's a shame that anybody should give up something they love, whether it's knitting or chocolate :D

I'm sure it WILL NOT be permanent...could be months, maybe years, but I'm sure we'll see you pop up again :D

Obviously we don;t want you to leave but you gotta do what you gotta do. Just think of it as a long term holiday, at least until things get sorted out. Magic was one part of your life, and now is the time to move onto another. Your magic time will return again, i know that for sure.

Good luck

That really, really sucks, I.D. I haven't known you long, but I know I'm gonna miss seeing you around the forums. All the best to you and I sincerely hope that one day you pick up a gimmick again and amaze us all.

Thought I would add this on to this thread as it is convinient. Let's give I.D a proper send off and re qoute some of his greatest and funniest posts. Ill start with his introduction then someone find another of his funny qoutes and add it on to give him a good goodbye.

I.D Wrote:

Hi

My name is Aaron and Im 26 years old and live in Nottingham.

I got into magic about February this year. It started last year when this gut I worked with used to perform 2 card monte every day and I was always around. I watched and watched and never got it. I bugged him every day ( pretty much the same way Iget bugged now lol ) and he never let on.

I got sneaky... He had a few to drink one work night out and i clocked kind of how he did it after the 9th time or something that night. He also did a really dodgy version of shapeshifter which I saw him mess up.

Cut this story short, I did 2 card monte from June 05 to Feb 06 and I wasnt comfortable withthe handling ( me knowing nothing about cards ) and figured I owed it to myself to learn it correctly.

I stumbled upon Ellusionist and was hooked by the demo videos there. It was real magic!! id have bet my life on it. Of course, sense told me that I wouldnt pay their prices, so ebay was my option to get the dvds cheaper.

The rest is history, I dont know that much considering the amount to be learned out there. I am pretty much a card purist but would like to expand into other areas... In Birmingham where I originate from I get into just about any club free, free drinks etc and people in Nottingham think im the devil or something, so i guess im heading in the right direction.

I am not satisfied as yet though, I want to turn proffessional by 30 and have this mountainous road ahead.. well exicted though

I own...

The Raven
Superman Trick ( I now have varicose veins goddamit!!! )
and a few leviation effects (balducci, king rising, chriss angels one ).. I want Aliun leviation.. I cant find it.. only a preview

I think thats about it... I think

Since February I have learned all the above ( kind rushed through learning.. and gained experience through.. well.. experience.. ( mistake I now know yes.. but I wasnt a magician then//)

I now dont know where to go.. XCM is calling for me and I have ordered Xtreme beginnners.. but I really want to spend time learning coin magic as I have paid little attention to it.. card purist till now..

A bit like this thread.. i want my fingers in all the pies.. i learn like I talk ( ultra fast ) but a bit like peoples reactions when they speak to me Im sometimes like '??!!! huh??!!

I only wished I started when I was 6.. im 20 years late and i want to catch up...

So Hi everyone.. any suggestions..
