Blackpool Question - after show party ...

Postby nikmagick » May 19th, '07, 14:01

AFTER GALA SHOW PARTY -

either

Spanish Hall for supper and show

or

Theatre Bar for supper and Close-Up Magic. ???

Anyone had any experiences of either experience :) ?

I might go to one of these next year ...

I would say the spanish hall. I had a poor experience with the close up a couple of years ago.

Definitely Spanish Hall. There's more room, the cabaret is on stage and can be seen from all parts of the Hall whereas the bar area and close up tended to be very crowded and not everyone saw the performers. If you're into celeb spotting then the 'names' tend to be in the Spanish Hall and eating HotPot with the rest of us!

Ditto!
I was naive enough last year to ask Mr. Casson (the one in charge of the registrations) advice and he reccomended the Theatre Bar. So that's where we went and it was a great disapointment. So few people were there. Mainly first timers. There was a great close-up magician showing some tricks, (Martin) but was overtaken by a terrible spectator that had to show (and reveal) trick after trick, never knowing when to stop, untill we left and went to Ruskin.
I heard the Spanish Hall was a lot of fun. :)

Will you be there in 2008? I hope so. Maybe we can all meet up in the spanish hall.

(if not there I am SURE we WILL meet up in the Ruskin. Meeting the Icelandic crew was one of the highlights for me this year)

In fact, we should insist on there being an Icelandic contingent and get the Ruskin to reserve a table in their honour!

I aim to go again next year... and I could imagine we will be at least 8 of us from Iceland. Spanish Hall wil definetely be my choice in 2008 and Ruskin is a must!

I like Mandrake's suggestion and 2nd it :)
My mission in 2008 will be again like this year... try to get Mandrake tipsy  :P

PS. I agrree with Bananafish's comments (in a different thread) about the negative impact on the recently adapted VIP tickets. Not only does it tear the community apart, it also creates huge conflicts... serving 2 excellent items at the same time, where it becomes too difficult to choose. (Like last time, Juliana Chen for VIP and Jay Sankey lecture... at the same time!!!). They seem to plan the same thing again next year, can we protest or is it just greed for more money?
