During one of my very rare stand up / stage appearances about a year ago I was performing the tic tac trick from geek magic mid act. I asked for a volunteer to come up and hold the large metal tray I was to regurgitate the tic tac onto.
A rather bold lad came up, I welcomed him, asked for a round of applause and handed him to the tray. As I was performing the effect the tipsy lad then preceded to shout out how it was done as I was performing it!
I found out after running in to him later that he was a dabbler in magic and had bought Geek magic.
Anyway luckily as he didn't have a mic on him most of the audience didn't hear what he was saying.
What I learnt from that is dont bring up an overly confident spectator and secondly certainly not one who has had a few

I was doing CMH at one gig and I got to phase two when I am doing it in her hands.

She was a pretty little thing and the table was reacting very well. I showed her how to hold ger fingers and looped the band around both her index fingers. As you do.

Except it didn't look right. It was around the index finger of one hand and the pinkie of the second hand. So I apologies and pointed to her index finger of the second hand and she changed figers.

Except it didn't look right. It was around the index finger of one hand and the still on the pinkie of the second hand.

So I am now looking a little confused, when she holds her left hand up shows me she had no thumb on her left hand. I mean - no stump or anything just four fingers, and as he hands where quite small it really did look like she had a pinkie at both ends.

Obviously I owned up to being the one that made the thumb disappear - but I have to admit it wasn't something I was expecting and it threw me for a few seconds. I just wish I had a TT on my so I could have said

"That's alright, I have a spare me with me..."

Oh my god, that is so unlucky.

Its like when your in an argument and you realize the perfect thing to say...20 minutes after the argument has finished.

(Off topic - not so much embarrassing, just an example of one of the above) I was doing the lighting for an orchestra in a concert hall, and everyone was the except for one of the trombonists. Then there was some noise form the back of the hall.

As everyone turned round to see it, this trombonist - Ben - came out from underneath the curtain behind the rest of the orchestra, at the very front of the hall.

Only when he got sat down did I realize I had a spotlight pointed right at the place he came out. Grr

All the best,
Croz
