Correct on both counts - Julia's older brother Eric was the paramedic taken over by the Master in the 1996 TV Movie version with Paul McGann as the Doctor.

And yes you probably are going nuts just like the rest of us.........

I just read that Russell T is stepping down to let Steven Moffat take over as Head Writer and Executive Producer from Series 5 onwards. It tends to indicate that the Beeb are happy to carry on with the programme for some years to come....

Did a magic trick with one of the kids at schools toy tardis making it disappear and reappear. Had the kid use his sonic screw driver as a wand. He loved it a lot. Was very pleasing.

Very very brilliant. Unlike Bonekickers on Tuesday night which was without doubt the worst TV I have seen in many moons.

Bill Nighy would be a wonderful, wonderful choice. It would be nice to have an older-looking Doctor again for a while.

I've only just seen the finale, as it aired for the first time here in the States tonight - it has been a frustrating few weeks making sure to avoid any and all sites/news/threads that might have given anything away about it.

Dunno what all the speculation's about, as obviously Mr. T's already in filming (once he's completed his Shakespear stint) for the four Special Episodes next year (he's already completely this year's Christmas special), and is strongly-rumored to be on verge for signing up to the 2010 seres too

As for some of the names that keep popping out of the woodwork (especially Nighy!), they're just pure conjecture.

The filming schedule would kill an older actor, stone-dead (even Eccleston admitted to being seriously drained and basically b*ggered by the end of the first series)

BTW - to all of our American Who-fans...what did you think of the finale?!

Aye, Tennant is rumoured to be talking about the 2010 series but that remains to be seen.

I'm quite sure that some older actors could cope with the schedule, notwithstanding there is always the option of adding another 'Doctor-light' episode into the mix each year - and Moffatt wrote perhaps the best one of those of all.

I can't answer your question about what American fans thought of the finale (and I'm not sure what the devil face is for on that question??) because I'm not American, I just live there. What I thought of it was that it wasn't bad, RTD did a pretty good job pulling it all together given the enormous task he chose to set himself - 'Let's have Davros, the Daleks, stolen planets, Rose, Jack, Torchwood, Sarah Jane, Mickey, Jackie, UNIT and Martha...!!'

However, it WAS a bit messy and the resolution, two Doctors etc etc was a little hard to swallow even for 'Doctor Who'.

I'd probably give it 7/10 .. with maybe an extra half mark for making me cry at the end.

According to the BBC today, Catherine Tate will return as Donna in one of next years' four Dr.Who specials, John Simm will also return as the Master, and David Tennant is reported to be 'very close' to signing up for a full series again in 2010......
