Time to regenerate (!) an old-ish post - the trailer for the new series is at http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/. Three former companions and Bernard Cribbins - classic stuff :D !

I recently bought the DVD of the 25th Anniversary special 'The Five Doctors', which has two discs, one with the 'as broadcast' version plus loads of extras such as out-takes (ever heard a Dalek actually swear?!), special FX, trailers etc and the other disc with the 1995 'special edition' version. Same thing as the broadcast one but with a few extra shots and the laser rays and digital FX have been beefed up a bit! This was the one where Tom Baker only appeared courtesy of scenes from a different and never broadcast episode and his place in the photo line up was taken by his waxwork dummy!

Worth the investment at less than £14 for 5 hours or so of escape from reality and seemingly never ending Emmerdale.....

Last year, I bought the "Genesis of the Daleks" DVD ( a 5 part CLASSIC from the Baker years)- absolutely brilliant. The second disc is full of extra features, which includes a behind the scenes documentary on the episodes with interviews from the cast and crew who are still alive. There's also a documentary charting the history of the daleks on there. That with a host of archive footage from the 60s and 70s makes for one heck of a package! Really a must have I'd say for any ardent Doctor Who Fan.

Was i seeing things...but on the new trailer for Dr Who i am sure i saw a quick flash of David Tennant begining to regenerate! It was very quick but it looked like he was on his hands and knees and that gold light they use for regeneration was coming out of his mouth. I may have imagined it but i am sure that is what i saw.

They're not confirming or denying whether the doctor regenerates this season. Which I hope he doesn't, I like David Tennant :(

Instead of a series, there are two specials scheduled for next year, both supposedly with David Tennant and then it's likely that a new Dr.will take over.

better make that 3 specials...from what I heard, there IS a regeneration in Series 4 of the new Doctor Who, however, given that David has already confirmed he will be in the 3 specials next year, I very much doubt it'll be him...could be another Master re-generation or maybe a return for the Rani or similar?

Looking forward to next Saturday night, but what the heck are the Beeb doing to the schedules? 6.20pm? Far too early IMO

Interestingly that's the day after the last in the current Torchwood series is being shown on BBC2. I wonder if it's coincidence?

They never scheduled the two right after each other last year, did they?

Why? Baker is still with us. Did he just throw a wobbly?

Troughton was the man for me, but then I remember him as Saul of Tarsus!

Torchwood and Dr Who dont run at the same time because they share certain crew members, so they cant film both simultaneously.

i work part time for a company providing first aid work for film and tv shoots. This year, weve been offered a Dr Who contract. We are just finalising the details now. Im really pleased, as its my favourite TV show (although I prefer the old ones).

Yeah.. I just thought they had a gap of a couple of months last time?

He'd not long left the role, and didn't want to come back for the special.

I remember reading that, not too long after he left the series, he realised he'd been mad to go, but of course it was too late by then! Too late to appear in 'The Five Doctors' as well. :)
