Thank you for the warm welcome. I thought it might be appropriate to share some of what I do.
My first passion is making kaleidoscopes, my other first passion is magic in the bizarre genre.
I have learned to combine the two by inviting strangers to my home to experience a paranormal performance free of charge, and during the course of the evening after performing I am able to demonstrate my artwork and hawk my wares. I advertise myself as a Reality Engineer.
My other avocation is giving lectures, and seminars on the use of Chaos magick in real world scenarios. I run an organization called the " Chaos monastery of Miskatonic University at Harrisburg". A coven of Chaos practitioners.
I'll give you an idea of a single performance piece, called "tesla's Talking box" I send out my invitations 2 weeks in advance. I mail a small envelope with a single key to six of the patrons with instructions not to open the small envelope.
To one of the patrons I mail an ornate wooden box with a brass padlock, and instructions not to open the box, and bring the daily newspaper from that morning of the evenings performance.
After all of the patrons arrive, I ask for the items that they were told to bring with them. The box is placed on the table and the envelopes are placed in a dish and mixed thoroughly. I remove a large amethyst crystal and devine the correct envelope containing the correct key to open the box. When the box is opened it is seen to contain a 45 RPM recording. I place a very odd victrola on the table and put the amethyst crystal in a special slot, and explain that Nikola Tesla found a method of generating electricity freely from the utilizing crystals and specifically the color purple which represents the crown chakra. I place the 45 record on the turntable and ask the patron to read the headline of that days paper. I then set the needle on the record and my scratchy voice reading that days headline comes from the speaker. Obviously everyone is amazed, but I like destroying logical thought. I place the record on the table and smash it with my fist and offer everyone a piece, the record is actually made from black licorice flavored hard candy. The looks of amazement are wonderful. I ask my audience if they ever were involved in mass hypnosis, as I slowly disassemble the old victrola showing no motor, no means of making the record spin, a completely empty box, and mostly made from cardboard and paper, a complete illusion. Everything happens in real time in plain sight, no ditches, no switches, no covers, or concealment, and to boggle your minds, absolutely no electronic gizmos built into the table or box. It is completely made on mechanical animatronic principles from 100 years ago. That's one of my openers, and the performance gets better from there. And no this is not commercially available, and if it ever becomes available it will be in extremely limited editions.
Did I mention that I invented a self lighting, self extinguishing candle holder, that works as a PK effect and uses real candles with real wicks. It will be available soon, it was codesigned by Mr. Doug Higley of the U.S. the master of sideshow creations.
Thanks for letting me blab.
