Well I didn't laugh at all. I did cringe though.

I wouldn't wish a trick going wrong on any performer. For the grace of god that could have been any of us out there...

Yeah well like they say: dont work with animals or children.
Or maybe he should prepare the trick abit better.

That's very harsh.

I know Dave's been doing this act for quite a while. I also know he is a very professional performer who puts in many hours of rehersal.

It may not have been an act I particularly liked (even when it does work) but sometimes tricks go wrong and there isn't much we can do about it. Perhaps this was one of those times?

Im sure. But to me it seems pretty obvious that the duck would escape the loud bang and smoke. I do not know how it was trapped but I imagine not well enough.

Dave has good presentation skills and Im sure he is a wonderful magician / ventriquillist. That just wasnt the day for him.

And besides, we dont have to take this so seriously, sometimes things just go wrong and it can be funny, as it is just performance and entertainment, not brain surgery.

Oh dear... I saw this routine at Blackpool and I must say it wasn't my thing, but that isn't to say I don't wish Dave well with it (and I genuinely think he does have oodles of talent).

What really disgusts me about the clip is more the style of these talent shows, badly edited clips of a panel of 'industry experts' grimacing into the camera and finally boosting their own egos by destroying someone elses. It's these trashy shows that get the thumbs down from me... I mean look at it this way, all these people who get their dreams shattered by these shows have already been auditioned by the production company before they get anywhere near the studio. So the either a) the production team genuinely think these people have talent or b) they are deliberately setting them up to fail in front of a studio audience and the television viewing public in order to boost the viewing figures, which in my book simply isn't cricket... You decide which is more likely.

I felt nothing but pity for him. The trick went wrong. It could happen to anyone.

He should have said "And not only has he disappeared, but he has now reappeared! Also, here is his twin brother Donald!"

It probably wouldn't have worked but then you don't come off as looking as a total @$$.

What interests me about BGT is that Piers Morgan also judges America's Got Talent that is airing now. Here's where this gets even more f**ked up. Sharon Osbourne is another judge! That leaves only one American judge on America's Got Talent.

I would have thought that having talent was a prerequisite for judging talent. I suppose I was wrong. :)

While I think it's wrong to have even one British judge on America's Got Talent, Sharon is the manager of Ozzy who has made more money than any of us will probably ever have put together. Apparently the judges don't have to have talent, they can have experience in the entertainment world. As I understand it, Piers is a newspaper publisher or something. Our other judge is David Hasselhoff . Who has so much talent  .

Forget I said that. I thought you were talking about that horrendous daughter of theirs.
And if David Hasselhoff is a judge, then that's enough talent for everyone.

This routine was in the talent competition on sat night last Febuary, but the year before was part of a kids lecture, so I've seen it twice. I like it but it doesnt look like theres been much improvement
