I found a ring?

Postby Chris » Jun 26th, '07, 09:56

Hello TM peeps, wondering if you can help........ :?

So was digging deep into the magic box the other day and i came across this ring........

Its goldy silvery in color and its in a twisted almost "hair style" plated twists....

I recall a trick with it where you twist it one way and it seems to get tighter on your finger and you turn it the other way and it gets looser  .....this having something to do with the illusion it created?

I cant for the life of me remeber wer I got it or what its called, does anyone know what it might be ? so i can find more effects to do with it? :D

thankyou, any pushes in the right direction wud be good thanks xxxxxxxxxxx

It's just an optical illusion as you describe - twist one way it seems to get tighter, twist the other and it seems to become looser. Check out http://www.discountmagic.co.uk/product_ ... cts_id=485

I bought one ages ago and there was a terrific argument on another forum about this ring for some reason. I don't recall any tricks or routines being supplied with the ring, I just used to tell people it was a new fangled adjustable item, turn it one way and it gets tight on the finger (flick the hand down making sure the ring stays in place!) and the other way it gets looser (just pull the ring off the finger). Not exactly earth shattering but, at the time, it seemed like a good idea  !

I think mine's somewhere at the back of the drawer, covered in fluff and old biscuit crumbs!

Kenton Knepper produced a very nice routine for this prop, but it was sold with two rings (one gold, one silver), and the choice of ring was part of the effect, although not absolutely essential.

I don't think it was available without the rings, but the package was called (oddly) 'The Ring'.
