Hello Jessie,
So, I wonder. You see, in 2000, the movie The X-Men came out. And it was the next year, in 2001 that De'vo left Germany and came to the U.S.
Now at the time, the movie the X-Men was quite popular and, well, it did deal with comic book Super Heroes from the Marvel Universe by Stan Lee.
Now then, De'vo created Handlordz and Superhandz when he came to the U.S. and he also formed the reinstatement of the Ulmen Trials based on his new take on the historical Ulmen 4 Trials. And thus, XCM or Xtreme Card Manipulation was born.
Therefore, since the stunts for the Ulmen trials are "superhuman," in what they require, it wouldn't surprise me, though it is just a guess, that he loosely based his idea on the X-Men movie, going for the coolness factor. Great marketing, actually.
Of course, for you Marvel comics lovers out there, you know that the "X" in X-Men stands not as a form of the word "extreme" but instead it symbolizes the X factor which, according the theory, is what makes mutated genes and thus superheroes or in the specific case, X-Men.
So, are you training for the Ulmen Trials? They sound really fun and I would so love to do them. If you are training, how is your elemental training going? I'm just loving that part personally, and have set up quite a "danger room," in and around my magic workshop to specifically train with virtually any contingency I can think of. I'm a romantic, what can I say.
Love,
Amanda Angeli
