Who's afraid of IT

Postby pluxus » Jul 2nd, '07, 19:32

Hello. First off, let me introduce myself as i am new here. I'm 22, originally from sweden but am studying medicine in leicester. I rediscovered my interest for magic after (rather perversly) having seen magicians at the cinema and so have begun practicing again. I recently bought John Leclair's Who's afraid of IT and i've been trying several of the effects on my own. i have a problem and a question however. i can't get the w*x to stick in my ear for long periods of time. it seems to come out or just stick to my fingers. i was also wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what sort of clothes to wear. any particular colours that should be use/avoided?

thanks

With the ear problem, I'd recommend using sticky tape at that end and wax at the other end (the end you need to be able to remove quickly). You can just use sticky tape by your ear because that end does not need to be removed quickly- I hope some people understand what I'm saying there!

In terms of clothing, Black is to be avoided. With some thread, white should also be avoided. A mixed up background is always best. Some thread varies in visibility so look around to try and find the best thread for you. Some are elastic, some aren't. Some are stronger than others, you get the idea.

I'm no expert and there are alot of people on the forums who know more about this than me!

yeah, a multi-coloured bright background is great, as a small discrepency regularly goes unnoticed. To set it up, attach a bit of IT to some sticky tape and wrap it around a few times...then stick it behind the ear. Wax at the other end is good to attach and detatch from coins, cards, e.t.c
