Recently, I've been in planning with my university's TV channel to produce a weekly mind reading/"mind control" series this coming semester, but I'm afraid it'll be too Derren Brown-esque. I'm interested in suggestions on how to avoid the problem.
As a brief introduction to my mentalism performance style, I take a psychological approach to my effects, "explaining" a few through the legitimate psychological ploys that I'm using as I go. I offer it as a real phenomenon, as it is--in both my mind and my spectators' minds. Often, people I perform close-up for swear I'm an absoulte genius and, while that sort of thing is good for inflating my ego and creating a buzz, I'm not sure how it'll come across on local TV.
If anyone has any suggestions of what/how/when/why/who to perform, I'm more than open to them.
Cheers,
Rob
