Postby Scotty-Watson » Jul 17th, '07, 23:30

We are currently looking for performers that would be interested in submitting articles, stories, biographies etc... for a new mentalism magazine that is due for release later this year. Yes, that's right a professional, hardcopy, glossy magazine on the subject of mentalism that will be on sale online and at a magic store near you.

If you would be intersted in contributing in some way to this venture please do not hesitate to contact myself through PM or email.

Our website will be up and running in the very near future, from there you will be able to catch up on the latest and find out more information about how you can become part of the team.

In the meantime if you would like to contribute in someway please do not hesitate to contact me through email or PM.

Intriguing - any idea of the sort of fees which would be paid for contributions?

I would be happy to contribute. I have some effects that I have never released before that I could surely submit to you, if you'd like!

Also, article-writing is one of my strengths so that may be a possibility as well?

Please PM m,e if interested.

Thank you for the comments folks,

Mandrake - In answer to your question, at the beginning we can not offer any fees in cash so to speak, however all contibutions will receive a photo, short bio, and a small space for site / product advertisng as well as a free copy of the issue in which their contribution appears.

In the future however... when the magazine becomes more established... Who knows!

I personally feel there is a difference between the two, however this isn't really what Intended to get into. It will be a magazine that deals with all aspects of mental magic and mentalism. Let's face it much of the difference between the two is the outlook of the performer.

Thank you for everyone who has emailed and sent PM's with enquries and much needed support.

Lawrence was joking, of course. However, I am not sure that any two performers agree on exactly where the dividing line is. Also, the context is (largely) king.

I seem to recall that you use some mental magic in your act, to vary the pace and mood, Craig; am I right?

Easy chaps!

Lawrence was joking, being his usual cheeky self and Craig wasn't dismissing mental magic, just making clear that there was a distinction.

I just thought a bit of context might be useful is all, and that we have - a mixture of both approaches.

Best of luck with the magazine, a lot of these kinds of publications are quite restricted even within the community so it'll be interesting to see how this one turns out!

I know Craig wasn't dismissing mental magic; I was hoping he'd give us a bit more of his experiences of using it!
