Let me introduce myself

Postby philemon65 » Jul 19th, '07, 01:08

Hello! my name is Philémon and i am from canada. I'm quite happy to have found a website not selling "blaine's latest tricks" or an "impress your friends in 10 minutes!" sort of kit. i've been interested in magic for a couple years and have been learning a lot about the history and theory--it's quite a fascinating art. i am 21 years old and hope to become a career magician, although i have a long way to go. 2 years ago, i bought mark wilson's book and a couple gaffed decks that quickly found their way in the garbage can. from various sources, i put together a small (10 min) card routine that i do very very well. i think i might start studying tarbell from start to finish instead of picking out a trick here and there to add to my repertoire. from now on, i am devoting most of my time to the study of magic as finances have stopped being an issue(ie i dont have to work anymore).

Philémon

Welcome. Gaff decks can be useful despite how common they are.

welcome. Gaffed decks can be extremely versatile, you just have to know how and more importantly.. WHEN to apply them.

The tarbell course is a wise choice. You may also, if you have not already, want to pick up a copy of Royal Road to Card Magic and Expert Card Technique, Bobo's modern coin magic for coins for a more in depth teaching of these 2 main areas

these 3 books along with the Tarbell Course will give a really good solid grounding in all sorts of magic from which you can excel.
