Untouchable by Josh Clarke

Postby Josh Clarke » Jul 25th, '07, 19:30

Here is my card through window effect. First I'd like to say thanks to Sean Beard, Kevin Parker and Chris Beard for their innovative contributions to card through window effects. Mine is called Untouchable. I chose the name for two reasons. One, the magician HARDLY ever touches the card. Two, the spectator thinks their card in on one side of the glass, but when they go to grab it, it's "untouchable". So watch "Untouchable" and tell me what you think.

P.S. The video is for illustrative purposes only. This CAN be done to a spectator live with a regular deck of cards.

THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS.

just watched it, and think that it does look very good actually. Kepp up the good work! could it me done my just licking the card and sticking, if no wax is available?

after watching it once, like a spec would, i have no idea. now to watch it again, as a magician would ;)

Love

Chris

Yeah I'm sure licking would work just fine. PM me with what you saw the second time around. Like I mentioned, the video is just a demonstration. The actual trick is performed slightly different from the video. I just had to film it that way because I had no spectator. I'll try to film it with a spectator live soon. Does anyone think this is worth trying to release after all the kinks are worked out?

It's just so hard to work out the viability of this from the video. Mainly because you could have just swapped cards while the camera couldn't 'see' everything (I am sure the real method is more diabolical!)

Can you actually just write out the effect as it's SUPPOSED TO BE SEEN by a spectator/audience, so we can get some context and idea of how it plays out?

I love the idea though...

The spectator selects a card and it is stuck onto the inside of a window. The magician and spectator walk to the outside of the window. The magician asks the spectator to grab their card. They say they can't because it's on the other side of the glass. The magician and spectator then walk around to the inside. The magician tries to grab their card, but can't. He asks the spectator to try and they can't because the card is now on the outside of the glass. The card is "untouchable".

It's still a work in progress, but that's the basic premise. Hope that helps Seige.

Ahhhh

SO, the effect plays exactly as seen...

Thanks for that. In which case, it sounds pretty neat!

Yeah pretty much as seen EXCEPT when the magician tries to grab it from the inside. That part's a little different ...

Cheers for that.
Interesting...you couldn't possibly get a performance of it with a real spec could you?

I was thinking "Look, we'll stick it on the glass here. Now lets come around the other side...from a far enough distance it looks like it has come through, but of course this is a mere illusion. Can you go back around and get your card for me please" Something like that..

Could be a great effect :)

That's exactly how it works on a spectator, Mikey.666. No need to modify it. I've performed it on spectators a couple dozen times and haven't been found out yet.

Sorry Mikey.666. I misread your post. I thought you were saying it wouldn't work on a spectator. Now I realize you want a video of it performed on a spectator. I will work on that.

wow. that looks real good! obviously a video with a spec will make it better, but that is one of the smoothest I have seen. I'd pay for it.
