Derren Brown vs Chris Angel

This is my first topic, so be nice, please.

Who do you think is the master mentalist and magician? Who would win in a mind to mind battle(battle of wits, or something similar)?
I know I wouldn't want to meet Chris Angel on a dark abandoned street, because he looks like a psyco(I question his sanity).
And I know I wouldn't want to have Derren take my wallet(If you watch his show, you know what I'm talking about).

I have grown to like Derren a bit more because he toys with the mind and that blank money trick he did, WOW, that looks like fun.....

Derren Brown no doubt... In a rwal battle Criss wouldn't have TV effects to help him... he'd be powerless.

By ther way, welcome to the forum.

Thanks!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, because while Chris crushes, stabs, burns and electrocutes himself, Derren is trainig his ability to influence other minds to work as he wants.
He can literally get inside your head. And your wallet.

They're in two totally different realms of magic. I couldn't begin to compare the two.

Derren by far, mainly cause more of his tricks take skill.

I agree with Josh - they are both worlds apart in what they strive to achieve.

However, I would disagree with Michael saying that Chriss couldn't compete without his TV crew. From what I hear and have seen on his shows, he is still a very competant close up magician without those cameras and studio.

Derren on the other hand performs his magic inside your head :?

I say Derren Brown, no questions, but thats a bit biased, because its the kind of magic I'm into - mind magic, managing to get into peoples heads to make them do something you want, subliminaly (spelling :S)

I do like chris angel, and he does do some good sleight of hand tricks - I recall seeing a video on youtube (I think a mate saw it and thought 'Dan will tell me how to do this if I show him then ask how is it done') and its him in a Casino in Vegas, he performs one of the coolest versions of 'Coin Matrix' I have seen in a while. So, on that note, he does have great skill, but seems to go for more TV style 'smoke and mirrors' tricks, which do rely on the camera a LOT more than other magicians.

However - again agreeing with dat8962 and Josh, they are worlds apart - as is every magician...everyone does things their own way - look how may ways there are of doing a simple card trick / slieght for example - it changes the trick depending on your patter, presentation, your character, the way you work the trick / reveal the card etc etc
