BT are great. Would heartily recommend. Would also say that my Ma has never had a problem with Tiscali.

Give them a call, they have a real good atittude and customer philosphy

I'm with Pipex, who are very good. Granted, they are not the best value for money in the world (£23/month for 1Mbps speed with no cap) but I've never had any problems with the connection.

And I would avoid AOL at all costs - horrendous customer service and God help you if you decide to cancel on them! Just don't go near them.

Pipex (broadband) has been bought out by Tiscali. End of an era.

I was with Pipex (after Demon) in the early 90s, when I think pretty much you had the choice of 2 ISPs.

And all my hosting etc. is done with Pipex.

But frankly, I could never trust an ISP who used David Hasslehof in swimwear to promote their services

Another one to throw to the mix is Plus.net. A mate of mine has used them as an ISP for yonkees and he always gets top speeds, top service, and best of all, a static IP thrown in.

But, I would certainly say stick with BT. For now.

Why does nobody at Virgin know what the word "unlimited" means.
It means "without limit" or "not limited" in case anyone was wondering.

Well, I've finally decided to leave Pipex because £24/month for a 1meg connection was just too much. I've done my research and decided to go with PlusNet. £10/month for the same speed (my line can only handle a maximum of 1meg, anyway). Ok, it's capped at 1gig/month but I can always add more capacity if I need it, which I probably won't (I rarely download stuff). I went with PlusNet because I've heard good things about them; I'll post my thoughts once my connection has been up and running for a while.

PlusNet do not offer an unlimited broadband service because an unlimited service is a "myth", apparently. Their explanation makes for interesting reading...
