Any one know where I can buy a magic wand?

Postby shaun.lewis » Aug 6th, '07, 18:51

Hi everyone!

I'm shaun, I'm 19, and I'm from unusually sunny England!

I started out when I was about 12 with some self-working card tricks but then I just fell out of it.

Recently I picked up a few magic books at a car boot and I was pleasently supprised to find most are classics reccomended on TM. As such, a lot of them have already been reviewed, but the few that havn't, I'll review when i've finished them.

At the moment, Im working with cards, learning a few sleights and about to get started on an Ambitious Card routine.

Im also intrested in Stage magic but I'm guessing thats pretty expensive, so for the moment i'll be sticking to close up work for a few friends.

Yours, Shaun.

Welcome, Shaun!

Just so's you know, the first places I look when I'm in the market for magic goodies are http://www.magicbox.uk.com, http://www.magicshop.co.uk and http://www.kidshowmagic.co.uk. There's three to get you started!

Enjoy the books you've bought - they'll be the start of a huge collection...

See you around the boards.

Hi, welcome to TM.

I find toy shops one of the best places to pick up magic wands, if you're after something a little more stylish I got a lovely crystal wand from a New Age, Occult type shop.

Thanks for the links everyone.

Actually, the post topic was the feed line for a joke I forgot to include in my post...never mind, it wasnt very funny.

I've made a wand myself out og a peice of dowel and my sisters old costume jewels, but it seems to have spilt straight down the middle. Suppose ill be visiting those shops after all!

Thanks again everyone!

go with Lady of Mystery and make one, its prob cheaper, as its only a few quid for a peice of dowel from B&Q or a hardware place, PLUS you can easily make gimmick wands and stuff for that added comedy effect in your routine.

If you are after card magic tips, go for buying 'Royal Road to Card Magic' Its like a bible, heehee, its great (as far as Im aware, you can get the book from amazon for a few quid, and the DVD box set from a variety of online dealers)

Hi, Shaun -

Welcome to the forums. When you've worked on your Ambitious Card Routine a bit, let me know what you've come up with. I've been working on mine for a couple of years now, finding new subletities I like and dropping other onese. It seems to be an ever-shifting routine for me. And I'm always curious to see how other people's are structured.

In any case, I know you'll enjoy it here. I have always found valuable information in this forum.
