AMAZING 'Leaning' Illusion....

Postby ONIONS65 » Aug 6th, '07, 21:33

Hi Guys,

Can anyone tell me more about this leaning illusion, when a person stands up and then leans over to an impossible angle to the ground. Any one who's seen this will know what I'm talking about here....

It's featured on many top TV 'Hidden Camera' Magic Shows - what is this called?

Can it be performed only for TV, or is it more versatile?

Some information on this would be much appreciated -

thanks - DANNY

depending on which version you buy it is called 'the lean' or 'so inclined'. Expect to pay around £600 for a UK built one or slightly more for the USA version. Angle proof with no problems and easy to do as well  You can do it anywhere, on stage, even in a bar (but make room first  )

Yes I believe it is called "The Lean", and is produced by Mike Malloy under "Malloy Modern Magic".
As Stephen already said, it is a very pricey effect, which is unfortunate as it does produce great effect and looks amazing.

Definately is one of those items or effects where you say "One day".

Check out Malloy's site if you are interested, http://www.malloymodernmagic.com/the_lean.htm

Wasn't this also something similar how Michael Jackson achieved his leaning effect?

I do believe he used the exact one. I have heard that he now owns it, but not sure how much truth there is to that.

What are the limmitations of this?

i.e. do you need to ruin a pair of shoes....
Do they do the work?
Can you use the shoes as your 'every-day shoes'?

Anything else required?

I'd like to hear from someone who actually has it....and a link to a UK Website that sells it.

thanks again

Another question I would ask is "Does any preparation need to be done to the floor and, if so, is it damaged in the process?"

You won't be surprised to hear that this effect has been discussed a couple of times before. We had to delete a third one because it came close to exposure so have a Search and see what you can find  !

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

Save some money guys... that £55k 3D float is nonsense anyway, you can do the same effect for an audience of 10 or less for about £25.

Just go out, buy 10 2litre bottles of White Lightning Diamond Braindissolver cider from the Spa shop, and a bottle of cheap tequilla.

Get your audience a bit drunkish, then turn out the lights. Stand on a table in front of them, and shine a torch on your face as you move around the table.

Their recollection in the morning, aside from "Why can I taste rotten apples? And why is my hair all matted? And why do I have bits of unchewed potato on my shirt?" will be one of sheer amazement.
