Complete card vanish

Postby lindz » Aug 21st, '07, 14:53

Hi everyone, I need a bit of help, Im routining a trick but I need to completely vanish one playing card and be left clean and the vanish is halfway through the effect, also I need to be able to do it standing and virtually surrounded, Also I can only have the one playing card in the hand when the vanish is done due to the rest of the effect. This one particular part is starting to bug me now I have tried lot's of different things like a pull, back palm but it's not clean, thinking about a topit like Derren's vanish in devils picturebook but that can only be done seated really. Also I wan't it to visually vanish so to speak so mis-direction is not going to work pah I'm confused so I would appreciate it if someone can point me in the direction of trying to get over this little hurdle. Thanks.

The Workeroo by James Brown.

Chris Beard is selling his, can be used surrounded and is very visual and leaves you completely clean.

A little pricey but could be what you are looking for

off the top of my noggin:

maybe use some changin' glue and could you use the card case?

does it have to actually vanish via a sleight, or just "look" like it's changed or vanished? then once the heat's off - you can steal it away for real...

slap vanish? hmmm...

Cheers I.D sounds like something that could be a good investment but due to lack of funds at the moment I need something a bit cheaper temporarily until I can afford a workeroo.

Well it doesen't have to vanish via a sleight Abraxus it's just that I would prefer it to be a complete vanish rather than looking like it's vanished because I won't need the card again for the effect because I have a duplicate card for the re-appearance so I can't really leave any evidance lying around.

Actually burning it could be quite interesting with a bit of flash it will certainly be visual and I could possibly have scorch marks on the dup cheers Abraxus.

Yeah - sounds like a sound idea; there's somewhere that actually sells 'Flash Cards' (ie playing cards made from flash-paper type material); I'm sure these'd do the job nicely for you mate

You can do a topit vanish standing!.....or do you mean (not having seen Derren's vanish you spoke about) that the style of topit vanish he uses can only be done seated?

PM'd you an idea as well.....

Cheers guy's I was actually thinking of a flash card when Abraxus said about burning it but I didn't think they did them so cheers.

Cheers for the PM Moodini Ill take a look after I finished writing this. As for the one I was talking about Derren doing I only see him doing it sitting so not sure if he's particular one can be done standing. As for doing it standing up it could be worth trying but I reckon it may be technically difficult to get it in the topit every time, maybe it's time for a good few months practise then  .

What about folding the card into four, doing a false transfer and sleeving it?

Thanks Carlos that was actually my origanal plan but then I would need visible fold marks in the dup and I can't do that before hand because the first card they see is the dup and due to the placing in the deck of the dup I couldn't even do a mercury card fold after they see it so there would be no way of actually getting the crease in the card. Sorry if that's a bit confusing.

Lindz has already tried that (though that was my first thought too, before I read his post fully)
