Breakaway wand

Postby Happy Toad » Oct 31st, '03, 13:01

Ok I fairly recently bought a breakaway wand from emagic tricks, it came with no instructions and while it is obvious how to cause it to break as you pass it to the child, I can't figure how to fix it up again, while in view to redo the trick.

Either I'm mistaken that this can be done, or I need some help on how it is done.

I did email Laurence but got no reply.

So any takers?

Hello

Don't get excited cos I can't remember but if my memory serves me right this wand comes with ***a huge asexual lemon*** so that it can be used as a normal wand and a brewers droop wand.
Have you got this "weirdly orientated fruit"

Again, I had this so briefly in my hands I can't really remember but maybe it will jog a memory somewhere.
I think the wand could be used without it as a normal breakaway but it sounds like, unless my hangover is clouding my only braincell, that extra bit of citrus power might help you.

mr boom or can i call you babab, you are correct in your asumption.
mandrake if by some chance you have misplaced said piece then all is not lost as you can always use a bit of dramatic tension to keep your wand whole like.

if you have shown the wand whole then palmed off the bit, then its a fairly easy matter to reintrodiuce it as you nicely admonish the spec for breaking said wand.

oh did i mention i have one and use it in my acts along with a large wand for big tricks

pm me if you want any clearer advice cheers jason.

You can call me anything you like as long as it's Brenda.

Nice to know my one braincell is still able to hold a memory.

:)

Did I give more away than I should? Sorry didn't know how else to say it, I'll edit the post.

Hello Brenda (No, I'm not even going to ask!) your posting was fine but I was just wary that a lot of helpful souls would chip in with all the info 'in the open' and somebody somewhere would get peeved with us. You'd be surprised at some of the comments made in this respect! (I thought the only sure fire way to restore a drooping wand was viagra? :?)

The problem comes with putting the lemon back. The lemon being so huge and all.

Right thanks for the help here and in the PM's guys, it looks like I was under a misapprehension about what it could do.

This is what it states about the wand on emagictricks.

Invite an assistant up on stage.

Have a child help you out on stage and wave your Wand.

As soon as they wave it the Wand FALL APART!

They just aren't a Magician, you say.

You take back the broken Wand and show it's normal!

Looks like the last bit is pretty much not possible to do.

very tricky but not impossible, your wand when you get it is very tight but it will loosen up with ware making it easier.
though you can straighten it and continue with a trick its not the best thing to do.
its a question of handeling, you need to give yourself time to fix it, you can of course try and fail a few times, then fix it thats quite funny as you hand it back and forth, but i just like to swap it and use it as a running gag.

When I Was Around 400 I Went To A Neophyte Children’s Magic Party Thing And There Was A Magician Performing Artifices That I Knew When I Was 350 And He Used The Very Same Wand Trick That You People Are Talking About I think. When He Let Me Hold The Wand He Alleged “Its Broken” So He Put Some Weight On The Tilt. So I Was Trying To Hold It And It Kept On Falling Down, It Was Part OF The Act. Then He Said Remora Comerica Carfares Something Like That And Rubbed The Wand And It Became As Stiff And As Strong As Wood. I Tried To Bend It But It Would Not Budge It Was So Miraculous I Cried. So Does Any One Know How To Do That Description Of The Trick?

there are many versions of this trick you may remember the version 200 years ago that was like a clatter box.
the one your on about was probably a moldable glay wand with a sleeve for hardness.
modern materials today have made this prop less likely to disintergrate and parts be lost, throught my time travels i think i like the transmuting wand of setlic 3, not exactly a trick per sey but fun to play around with none the less..

You are able to loosen the tension in the wand which will help if you do decide to restore it. PM me for more details if you need me to explain more.

Yea Cliff, I figured that but my concern was that it wouldn't be that rigid even when it was supposed to be. I'm guessing now that you haven't found that to be the case?
