I was practicing just now when I realized that I hold the deck in my left hand when I'm just holding the deck(although I'm a righty). Is this normal? Poll is just to see what people say as a percentage.

Moral of the story is that now I'm going to train myself to do sleights in either hand.

I think you'll find this is very normal - most right handed people hold the deck in their left hand in mechanic's grip, and would only hold the deck in their right hand in biddle grip, for the simple reason that this is how all the beginners books in card magic teach it.
There's actually a significant amount more to do with your right hand still - get readies, DLs, side steals - the fact that you're holding the deck in your left doesn't mean it's the most active :)

I'm a lefty and i hold the deck in my left hand and i do the majority of my slights - like Farlsborough said - with my right hand which i found interesting since im left hand. but i still can't do an overhand shuffle from right to left... thats one thing i was trying to teach myself so there would be less flipping of the deck

The easiest way to know whether you are left handed with cards, is if (like me) you have to translate all card magic books in your head (i.e. when it says left hand you think right hand and vise versa).
Having said that, I do all my sleights left handed except for my elmsley count, which I do right handed for some reason. I must have forgotten to translate it in my head.

I'm right handed but I can do a lot of things better with my left hand than my right, I'm sort of 50/50, one hand cuts are easier with my left hand, but when I do an in the hands riffle shuffle I do it like you would from a right hand mechanics grip, although I hold the deck in my left hand with some amount of fumbling with the deck (if anyone can understand that), I've learned to do it from my hand hand aswell as my right.

see this is where i thought i would run into problems since i am left handed but most of the books and videos show the tricks done the way i do them. there are only a few slights that i do have to reverse in my head
