Yeah it looks cool, i dont think im really a big fan of the whole "ghetto magician hustler" thing but, everyone got there own style and thing, which is what makes the world interesting.

Keep up the good work

Hey, you're not alone in that. Which is why I don't alot of support in the magic community, but I still love the art. I'm pretty positive once people understand where I'm coming from when I call myself the "Ghetto Houdini" and when I say that I'm a "hustla" that they wouldn't care. But until then, I still have to overcome all the anti-Hip-Hop mentality in magic. lol...

The glass levitation was very nice. Is that your own effect or is it commercially available?

very nice looking, gotta say I am anti hip hop in all walks of like, not just magic but it looked like good magic

why the ghetto houdini though? do you come from "the ghetto"? and if so, where are you performing, cos some of those places look a little too fancy for any "ghetto" I've ever known

My website, smoothini.com has my bio on it. I also have (or had) a biography on this message board. But I'm not sure if it got taken down. I knew there were some members here that had an issue with me self-promoting and putting up pictures in general of my shows. Mostly because I had half-naked girls and stuff. Either way what you think as the "ghetto" and what I know as the "ghetto" or the "hood" are probably two different things.

Yes, I grew up in Washington Heights which is in New York City. And that is the hood, or the ghetto. But it seems like Hollywood and other forms of media have made the hood to seem something very disgusting. I mean, it is what it is, but it isn't even as scary as the media makes it out to be.

I have many posts on the internet why I'm called the Ghetto Houdini. And I guess it is out of other peoples ignorance that they see the name and get turned off from me assuming that Flavor Flave is going to start doing back palm productions. LOL

I perform in Hollywood, L.A., Beverly Hills, Vegas, New York, Miami, Tokyo, throughout the Carribean (if I can spell it), etc.... So, no... I don't perform in the hood. I'm just from there.

The Glass Levitation: That one is called Airborne. The one you see on that video is the cheap version of the effect.

Fair enough, comprehensive answer. If you were to have Flavor Flave doing back palm productions though, I would be a hell of a lot more interested

It was good, can't say I'm a huge fan of the whole hippity hoppity thang either in general but it fits your character and is certainly unique enough in magic to give you a nice niche to work with. Anyway you're a showman first and foremost and that's what matters. Keep it up.

Smooth, I don't think it was anyone taking issue with your self promotion. The only static you've ever had here was when you presented the "truck runs over me" publicity stunt idea to the forums - which wasn't as well received as you would have liked.

For some, it's the air of arrogance that you sometimes exude that turns people off. Your reaction to the publicity stunt was one of those times.

Nice video Smoothy, I always enjoy watching your performances.

The hip-hop thing is not to my taste either. I find that music and comedy tend to be very specific to people's tastes whereas magic seems to have a boundary breaking universal appeal. Everyone like wonderment.

Don't let that side of things detract from your excellent magic. I'm sure if a magician from the North of England dressed and acted like George Formby and has his music all over his videos it would certainly turn away hip-hop fans.

Music aside, some great performances on that clip and I look forward to seeing the full documentary. (With the sound turned down!)
