In my opinion you're not missing much. I watched it once and that was enough..

That movie is nothing compared to the book in my opinion. It's almost like it misses the point.

Not as good as I expected it to be. Though I did come in expecting it to be quite different than what it was.

When I read the title 'The Greatest Film of all time...', I thought it was going to be a thread about Carry On Camping....

something wrong here

Postby Trickyfied » Sep 6th, '07, 18:45

I'm sorry, I've missed something here. I thought it was common knowledge to point of being taught in schools alongside the theory of evolution that it was a FACT that 'Star Wars' is the greatest film of all time.

Not seen the 'On The Buses' trilogy then? Pathos and laughter.

Well according to AFI- which I think is a USA thing.

#1 movie is Citizen Kane.
#2 is the Godfather
#3 is Casablanca

Star Wars is #13

And Blade Runner is #97

And these are out of the top 100.

Inspired by Lord Freddie's recent championing of 1970's sit coms & movies, I recently sat down to watch the On The Buses movie shown recently on one satellite channel or other.

It was terrible. Truly awful. The 2 main characters were meant to be cheeky lads about town, but were in fact 2 bad actors in the mid-40's at least. It was not funny, the plot was simple minded, and as for the sexism, rascism, and stereo-typing - well saints alive! I cringed.

It made Friends look like the height of human artistic expression.
