Card trick required....

Postby ultimatecreate » Sep 11th, '07, 19:46

I have been searching for a new card trick to incorporate into my card routine but as of yet my search has been un fruitful...

When I get a deck of cards out Ill do the following...

1) this will be something quick and choppy - usually red hot mammacita (the one where their card goes red - it is taken from the packet, another card is selected and is found to be the red card previously taken from the deck) or switch craft (two specs are each given a card and then the cards apparently switch places) both require minimal setup

2) My ACR routine

After this i get stuck. I need something imprompt or with v minimal setup bearing in mind i could have a dupe or two in the deck if necessary and would not usually have access to a table. I say this because I was thinking of working revolver into the routine but dont usually have anywhere to table the deck to hide the final fase that the colour of the deck has changed. Any ideas? Id like it to be really punch ideally.

Cheers magi!

A

I'm no expert but I will try my best;

-Maybe you could have a poker/gamblers routine where you can deal different hands of poker, using second and bottom and even (middle  ) deals. Doesn't really require any setup depending on what kind of way you go about it.

-Do a trick that involves more than one spectator. Maybe you could use Dai Vernon's mental force on two spectators, it could get some good results and reactions.

-Do a signed card (you could even use the one in you ACR if they signed it) to wallet...or shoe...(you know the possibilites). This would be good end trick, it gives laymen a great kick of excitement, leaving them wanting more, so it will also build your reputation.

Hope any of that was helpful. :D

mhh would do something in the specs hands... for example the ultimate card transposition, or even better anniversary salsa, by shoot ogawa

the ultimate card transpo is an effect with a d......cat

if u better want something flashy do the popping aces...

from all the effects i would do anniversary salsa cuz it's possible to do it for one or two specs and it's mind blowing...

so long

Dai vernon's "Twisting the aces" four card effect....no set up other than to openly remove the four cards from the pack and you are ready

One of my favorite impromtu tricks is "The Biddle Trick." It requires no deck setup and has a similar effect as "Switch Craft". But "Wave The Aces" is another trick which incoorperates more than one audience member. Plus both tricks can be performed with a sighned card. Also "Switch Craft" can use a sighned card too (The spectator's card obviously wink wink)

Not being funny here chaps, but I don't see any consistency in any of the groups of tricks suggested, apart from a routine of gambling tricks.

2 ideas come to my mind, if you looking for a visual finisher effect you should go toward a torn and restored card possibly using the same card as in the ACR.

Atho both trick you mentioned do move cards around you could stay in this track and go with [Las vegas Leaper] kind of trick where cards move from the packet to the spec hands and/or pockets.

Ill check back later maybe we find something else.

Phas3r beat me to it, I was going to suggest a torn and restored using the same card as the ACR. Or maybe with a little careful handling you could perform a hindu colour change, almost as more of a byplay than an actual trick. I've done this in a few of my routines and find it's a good and unexpected finish.

If you're table hopping, and this is the last trick, I think anything involving a souvenir would be great.

I find Tag is a good finishers to a card routine as you have a signed card with your details printed on the tag that is attached to it.
The gimmick can be easily added to the deck inbetween effects or could be there from the outset if the specs arent going to be examining the deck too much.

I have discovered that the more authority you present, the less people actually want to get in and check what's going on. Nobody stops the (official) dealer in a poker game to see if his cards are straight, do they.

A good one to have on standby in event of the often heard "teach me how to do that" is to say "tell you what, I'll teach you this one" and go into the spectators card trick (rrtcm). Shuffled, borrowed deck etc and they get involved in most of it. Can be done without tables.

not a fan of sigs, so I won't bother adding o..... oh

I agree!

For me you need to finish your card work after the ACR with card in wallet, shoe etc. then move on to something else. For me three card tricks is two too many! Just because we like card trick doesn't mean the punters do.

At the end of your ACR routine you could finish with something like Omni Deck?

That way you finish with the deck having vanished, which is a brilliant ending for laymen, and it leads perfectly into something else not involving cards if so required.
