Advice on trick

Postby zed » Sep 17th, '07, 12:01

Hi guys I am fairly new to magic. I love my unique coin and am looking for something similar that can be done in pubs, parties etc. Probably something that is gimmicked as I have no sleight of hand! So if anyone has got any suggestions?

Thanks for quick reply! Am UK based. The cigarette through coin trick - is the coin examinable or will the spectators figure out it's a gimmick? I like the unique coin trick because the coin looks genuine. Also what is photo coin? And the expanded 2 pound shell - is that the same as unique coin?

If you're just starting out you're best off getting yourself a good book for now. Have a look at Merk Wilson's Complete Course. Gimmicks are ok as far as they go but with some good skills you'll be able to do so much more.

bobos modern coin magic and mark wilsons complete course in magic cover the photo coin effect and the use of the shell as well as basic switches and sleights to get you going, since you asked specificly for gaffed tricks thats what i offered, knowing that some nice lady would be along to recomend the right reading material for you.

welcome, shell coins are great, I ordered a folding coin just because it was cheap, so you might want to get that. Otherwise, you might want to get an Okito box, but Id advise Modern Coin Magic by JB Bobo

I use my coin bender all the time in this type of setting....but my understanding is that it doesn't work all that well with UK coins so you may have to modify it slightly....there was a post on it somewhere.
