Greetings all. I'm a relative newcomer to magic, i think it's only in the last six months or so that i've become interested in it. My primary interest lies with cards, although the field of mentalism is one that fascinates me too.
If I'm honest i feel weird about being here, lol. My skills are very much in their infancy so ANY hints, tips or pointers you can provide will be warmly recieved. I've been working on the pass for a while now, so certainly any advice there would be eagerly absorbed. I've tried the invisible pass and i can see why some might prefer it, but i'd like to master the normal pass first.
I read Derren Brown's Absolute Magic and am interested in what he had to say there about your performing persona. I thought the sleights would be hard enough without having to project another personality, or at least some kind of mutation of your own. If i had any persona right now, it's one of doubt in my own skills and of being eternally greatful when a trick comes off! It's easy for me to go to pieces when the sleight is approaching. Any thoughts on this will be good.
Also, im in the Bristol area of England. If any other members are from around those parts, could you point me to a decent shop for purchasing Bicycle cards? Im forever ordering from the internet and am not keen sending my bank details into cyberspace.
Thanks all, i look forward to posting with you......
