Hello

Postby deaner » Sep 20th, '07, 07:15

So, it all began when I got: The beginners book of magic. I barely knew how to read at the time. There was this show, the Magic Palace, which I watched every day after school. I guess that's really where it started. I found that with me, coins came first. The appeal of cards didn't hit me until later. When speaking with people, I sometimes don't know the phraseology of a certain method. (I performed the ambitious card for 10 years before I knew that's what it was called. And I learned the Elmsley count way before I knew it's name.)
Earlier today, I spent a couple hours analyzing "mind power deck" performances on the internet. I had finally found someone who was sloppy enough where I could look closely at the cards. It still took an hour to sort it out. I had realized a while ago, the method, but wasn't sure of a card or two, which ones would be best, psychologically. So that's what I did today. I just happened to have enough new decks lying around to create the first version of this effect. Even though my wife saw what I was doing and asked me about it and I attempted to show her, when I said: "just keep saying it in your mind, the ...." her response was "Shut Up!" It is a mind blowing effect which knocks people out of their seats. I'm also still working out the wording and scenarios. I should get back to that.

more stuff

Postby deaner » Sep 20th, '07, 07:28

I should mention that I have always loved puzzles, paradoxes, optical illusions, forced perspective, anything that seems impossible, everything connected to magic, from martin gardner to even maybe Criss angel, who is starting to grow on me, as an entertainer, more than a magician.

I'd consider myself a skilled hobyist, a a too perfect theorist of diavernion decent. I agree that to hide the skill and be natural is the goal, to create magic in someone's mind, not just to merely impress with skill. When I was about 13, I started playing with mirrors, and creating blue room type effects (peppers ghost). Of course, I didn't know it was called peppers ghost until just recently.

I hear David is supposed to be making the moon disappear. But there is very little info on this, anywhere. Anyone know anything?

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

special access

Postby deaner » Sep 29th, '07, 02:36

ok, so how exactly do I get to be granted special access.

So far, everything that looks interesting, I am blocked from.

I know the rules:
1. Never repeat it.
2. Never tell.
3. See rule 1 and 2.

Let me in. I need, I need.

not much

I wonder how many other people have "abracadabra" for their passwords.

So, I just discovered "raise rise." My head hurts thinking about it.

Perhaps I should change my password.

hey there and welcome!

as for the restricted section...you aint really missing much.

The only thing is all those parties with topless dancers we have...

*ahem*

hello there! :D

If you are really into cards, summit I may recomend picking up is "Cadr Stunts" by Gregory Wilson.

It is by far one of my favourites in my collection - and you never get bored of watching him perform! And if you master the "boomerang card of death" effect then you are a better man than me - I have been trying for a good two years now, and am still unable to!

Hope that you enjoy your stay!

Love

Chris
