Chinese for dinner?

Postby Lady of Mystery » Sep 20th, '07, 14:04

Now I usually like chinese food and always love to try something new but this dish I think I might give a miss.

Lomsstickle...

Being as spices have been used for centuries to mask 'flavourless' or rotten meats (I believe) then you may want to think twice about that article...

With Indian cuisine, especially, would you REALLY know what you're eating?

Penis or trotter? Chicken breast or dog breast? Beef or rat?

Yum yum.

Did anyone see Paul Merton in China? In one instalment he was at a food stall that had all kinds of things to eat, including deep fried scorpions! His guide explained that Chinese cuisine is a famine cuisine, so they would eat the squeak of a pig if it has d any calorific value. He was taken to a restaurant where he at least tried to eat some form of penis, but you could tell it was going to come up again - and did!

Thinking about it, maybe UK cuisine is a famine cuisine too. I mean, calf's foot jelly, dripping, tripe, trotters, scratchings, tongue? Ox tail? McDonalds?

Now, done with a little red wine and some herbs, donkey penis can taste pukka. You should give it a try.

As any aspiring chef will tell you, introducing wine to a fibrous meat such as penis will do nothing except make it stringy and hard to chew.

I'd be very much doubtful if this would be enjoyable.

Try instead poaching the penis in WHITE wine. This will break down the fibrous meat, and make it much more palletable.

A slow-cooker is even better... some white wine, shallots and a drip of Worcester sauce, and your Donkey's Doohdah will taste the Dog's Wotnots!

How very 80s of you man. It's much better to experiment.

Remember, if eating penis is something you've never tried, then don't knock it.

Its not that.. its just that Ive always found testicles to be of a better flavour.. less.. salty..

A nice fat pigs heart always goes down with a pint of guiness too..

Here's a handy tip:

When eating penis, imagine it's something else... shut your eyes and let yourself drift to a distant place. (This is excellent advice... taught to me many years ago by a sailor behind Rackhams)

For instance, instead of penis, why not imagine you're eating something like Camel's colon, or Elephant nostrils?

Keeps you sane, eating things like that. Makes you realise how much you should appreciate good old British food, like tripe or jellied eels.

One of the first meals I had out with the wife (back in the early 'courting' days) we had some right proper 'posh nosh'. For dessert, I opted for the cheese platter.

Bloomin' great, I love the cheese & biccies option over a big lump of sugary muck any day.

The 'future Mrs Seige' commented "ooooh, I love cheeses. Especially the strong smelly ones".

Straight away, a match made in heaven was born, and I suddenly realised that I'd not have to change my ways too much. Or my undies.

:?

possibly.. ill eat any cheese except Stilton.. Im no connoisseur of cheese.. but I do like those which have the pleasure of passing my pallette.

The organisation of cheeses and buscuits is something Id rather leave to my wife and the few in our family who appreciate it... Im best off left to just eat it and pile on the pounds!!

Ooooh, a nice crumbly white cheese, crackers, a well breathed bottle of red, a bowl of olives.

I'm suddenly starving!
