ReinCARDnation by Kris Nevling

Postby timlic » Sep 25th, '07, 10:21

Just been doing my weekly browse of magic websites and saw this on Alakazam:

http://www.alakazam.co.uk/acatalog/Hot_List_1.html

It's called ReinCARDnation and is a T&R card effect, saying it uses only ONE card.

Has anyone seen this/got this? I love Garcia's 'Torn' effect and this looks similar, but with a difference (without giving away details of course)

in the writeup is says he uses one card, nothing else-- but I'm VERY skeptical. The handling looks a lot like torn -- and during the rips it looks like he might be hiding a little something (if you know torn you know what that something likely is)

Reincardnation is fantastic. I use it always. A signed card anywhere anytime. Nothing else. Its a killer after ACR. I've had people gasp after performing it. It takes a good amount of practice to get it just right, and even though it's his trick, I dont like the way Kris does it. Spend some time practicing and fit it into your routine, it'll be worth it.

I've seen Kris perform this and it really is good. I pretty much recomend most anything by him. I watch Kris perform at our meetings and really his ideas are incredible and watching his live performance is a treat. If you have not seen his linking cards I recomend it. When you first realize how it is done you think. No way, this is a pile of %#%@ then you go ahead and put the work into it and perform it it kills.

I'm sure Kris would agree when I say that while his effects are not overly difficult they are not exactly for the feint of heart either.

not really a fan of it to be honest, but that probably is jut because I already perform a torn and restored effect where the spec gets to keep the fully restored in one piece souveneir.
I 've had those reports back in the past, someone kept the card in her bag, and it got noticed when she was pulling stuff out so she got to tell how she saw someone tear it up and then put ot back together in front of her. Somehow I just don't see the story being as good with the addition, and then he tore it up again and couldn't put it back together.

People give it points for impromptu, but you may as well do a simple "here hold this corner as a receipt" effect and then they get to eep all of it for a reason.
