Hey, I'm new here and to magic. Ive collected alot of magic tricks and items over the years for either presents, gifts, or curiosity. I really never done them before and I'll like to try. Thing is no one around me does it and its kind of hard.

Any advice? I know alot of you will probably put your favorite books here. I've heard about them and have post of them. Like royal road, but I'm more of a visual guy. I have to see it to do it. Any good movies out there? Im mainly interested in fast pace magic like coins. Since I'm 14 there is alot of immature kids out there who like to spoil things so I need to do it faster then laying out cards.

A little about me.

I'm 14 years old. I live in Layton, Utah. I like football, skateboarding, magic the gathering, and lately magic. I guess thats it.

Welcome to TM! My advice for you is that you should do what you want. If magic is your thing, stick to it.

If you are after coins stuff - here is a list of recomendations:

"modern coin magic" book by J.B. Bobo (get this regardless...I know it is a book but...well...trust me ;))

"in the beginning there were coins" dvd, by Jay Noblezada (I haven't seen this, but apparently it is very good for beginners if you need a dvd)

and when you get a bit more experienced with those two items:

"Revolutionary Coin Magic" dvd by Jay Sankey (hard hitting visual stuff here...but you have to know the basics first)

That is what I would recomend if you inssist on dvds - though in bobo there is just about everything in the other dvds, and more, for less than half the price ;)

Cheers!

And welcome!

Love

Welcome to TM.

I'd always recomend Mark Wilson's Complete Course to anyone. I know it's a book, but the illustrations are very clear and descriptions easy to follow (much easier than bobo or royal road).

Ok, I have the complete course, bobos, and royal road to card magic. Its pretty confusing to me readig it so I just wanted to get a few dvds to learn the basics so I'll know what they are talking about in the books. Also any card magic dvd suggestions will be nice. Thanks

I'm thinking about getting "In the beggining there were coins" and "Self tying shoe laces". They both look good and have great reviews. Also if you spend more then $40 on penguin magic.com you get a free dvd. Although it looks like junk. Anyways how do those two look?
