Why oh why is it that whenever I get a new ISP I get the same old problem? Connection drops, dead s;ow (less than 512) speeds etc.

Have had BT out 3 times, Tiscali on phone nearly everyday since I got back from holiday and I'm still lucky if I get to remain connected for any decent lenggth of time!!

Apparently my cables to the flat need replacing..... not bad when you consider my flat is only 3 yrs old and I am the only one to have ever lived here!! Does this mean the lifespan of a BT laid cable is only 3 yrs? Doubt it lol

I use Cable and my problem was my modem, I was one of the original subscribers so my connection was limited by the modem.
I got them to change it and BLAM!! 20 MB

If it's your cables then best to get them sorted asap. But some ISPs are better than others. Over the years, I have been with numerous ISPs including BT, Tiscali, AOL and, currently, Pipex. Pipex are not cheap (£24/month for a 1MB connection) but they are by far the most reliable ISP I have ever been with. No dropped connections, consistently good speeds and generally no problems whatsoever. I'm staying with them until I have a good reason to leave.

I have used Bulldog (now part of Pipex) for the last two years, and they (and the service) have been excellent.
