Roth wrote:That's the whole picture Mike, and don't be afraid of the Outlaw posse, say what's on your mind, we're big boys, we can handle it.

And if you think this is all a bunch of corny hooey, well you have a right to think that too.

It's not that I think it's a bunch of corny hooey, it's just a case of enough being enough.

As I said, I wasn't trying to flame or cause hard feelings, but, in all honesty, this is the kind of thread that you see on Magic Cafe and anyone who would question it gets brow beaten and sometimes banned.

I'm honestly not taking a shot at you Roth nor at Outlaw Effects. If it has been interpreted that way, then you have my full apologies.

Mike.

There are threads praising RRTCM and no one has complained about it receiving universal praise.

Basically Mike, their products are great and their service is excellent.
From my experience, that's a fact. I have dealt with some shoddy charlatans trading as magic dealers so it's refreshing when you do receive a good service.

It has also been pointed out on many occasions by more than one magician that RRTCM is outdated and outmoded. Yes, RRTCM has its detractors, also.

Please show me a thread on RRTCM that has statements such as:

you may need to to put up a warning for your shows.. people who are faint at heart- Beware!

now that I can see the buy it now button, when I get my card statement through I bet I really do wih I was going blind...

This has become a Must have for me ever since I first heard about it. I wish it had come out sooner, so I use it this weekend at a private booking, but the next one...Oh, yes.
If you could only see the evil grin on my face.

give us a break from all the excellent stuff you turn out

I mean, this is all just a little over the top, don't you think?

Mike's right there; I am one of them. I can't stand the awful style Hugard has, and the poor explanations. I'm very much a Card College man, even though I'm not a card man.

In my case, it was a plea from the heart. Well, a plea from the wallet. Outlaw's products are exactly the sort of props I want to buy. Roth was incredibly helpful and patient when I was having the Devil's own job trying to order earlier this year and answered about a dozen e-mails promptly.

Truth be told, there was a little delay in getting my order out, but bearing in mind the distance, I had made allowance for that. I did have to check what was going on as well. There you go, a negative comment. You won't get more than that out of me, because Roth offered great customer service.

Personally, I've had pretty excellent service from just about everyone I've ordered magic from. Maybe I'm just lucky.

I'm slightly saddened that you'd think I'd ever be less than honest, or simply following the herd. I refused to give abraxus a 10/10 for his book test, simply because I didn't feel I could honestly do so. And that's a guy I think is one of the most decent, imaginative and creative magicians here.

We magicians love new props, new ideas, new books, DVDs, and anything else we can get our hands on. We're magic nerds (even the cool ones like me  ) and we lget excited about new stuff. We're just being enthusiastic about great effects produced by a straight-up guy who offers a very good service, even to overseas customers.

It seems that I'm just getting in deeper and deeper here...

I didn't intend to indict your veracity nor was I trying to suggest that everyone on this thread is nothing more than sheep. My apologies that you took it this way.

In fact, my apologies to all of you. I should have kept my big mouth shut. So, if you guys will drop it I will drop it and leave it with my apology for overstepping my boundaries and my apologies for giving my opinion where my opinion was not needed (no sarcasm here, just an honest apology).

Mike.

I just put my initial reaction down, but suspected I'd not really got your precise point. Yes, the thread was a bit gushing, but we're not the Café (thank goodness). We probably did get a bit carried away, but Roth's one of the good guys and they aren't that common these days.

If they ever were.

One way we can pay him back for producing interesting effects, and offering good service, is to promote him and his products on Talkmagic, precisely because we don't normally kiss up to people.

No, I'm not offended, but certainly sounded like I was, so sorry for the apparent histrionics.

EDIT: You keep opening that mouth of yours. Mr Jay. You hit a lot of targets and say things people need to hear.

Speak up Mr Jay, but I praise Outlaw with good reason and the points being:

1) I wanted a smash and stab type effect and not only was the Scorpion cooler and a more interesting prop to use on stage, it was significantly cheaper and not as common as similar props
2) Roth replied to any messages almost straight away. I had qualms about ordering from overseas but the communication was excellent and all worries disappeared
3) I had trouble using the Paypal function and kept on trying until it finally worked. For my persistance Roth threw in a free copy of Sanctum 2, another wonderful effect. A truly nice guy and ones that DOES care about his customers.
4) I have used both effects on laypeople. The Scorpion on stage and Sanctum 2 in more intimate settings. Both are excellent additions to what I do and have resulted in excellent reponses from those I have performed them for.

So as you can see, I have reasons for praising Outlaw. I like the things they produce, I was treated exceedingly well by Roth and these touches inspire loyalty with your customers.

After being treated badly and made to feel like s**t by a certain site , it's refreshing to come across people that treat you like a human being rather than seem hell bent on ripping you off. I also received great service from magicmagic recently too.

I would purchase from Outlaw, Magicmagic and other retailers again and again as I received exceptional service from them. After my bad experience with magic shop, I wouldn't go near them even if they were selling bricks of bikes for 5p.

That's the difference. How people are treated and these human touches are rare in the world today when they are so many leeches trying to rip you off.

Yes, the good guys deserve all the praise they get.

Wow! It looks like this little book has caused quite a stir already. I can't wait to see the reactions it gets from the victims. :P

magicmagic? now *there* is a decent service as well!

The 3 top services I have received are from, in no particular order, NUMS, Outlaw, and Magicmagic. In fact, I placed 2 orders at Outlaw, one at NUMS, and one at MagicMagic, all in the past month!

A FREE Sanctum2!

Is it not bad enough that this information is freely available, without the information being free?

Anyway, we are keeping a close eye of the Almanac too, anything in the mentalist underground is of interest to us.
Everything Outlaw produces is of great interest - and I can assure you that I am no ones 'posse'

The concept alone of their effects in enticing. Well thought out.
What's better for presentation purposes.. a dull looking spike on a wooden plinth, or a nasty looking ancient ninja weapon with a story behind it?

The aged books look good and the fact that the props look authentic makes your routines and storytelling seem all the more believable.

The British equivalent, for the thought, originality and aesthetic appeal has to be Black Hart.
