A great little 'gag' is to reach into your pocket and say 'Awww, no! Don't you hate it when your wife [or partner, or mother] washes your clothes on a high-temperature wash and they shrink?"
Bring out the cards and state...
"No, not the trousers... the playing cards! Hmmm, they usually grow back to normal size after they dry out... that's a pain. Oh well, let's give it a try..."
Take the cards from the deck, fan them out. Ask the spectator to take a card, replace it. Before they do, you turn the deck face-up, so that their face-down card is the other way around.
Pretend that nothing is wrong... they may look at you strangely, but don't say a word.
Fan out the cards again, face-up to show their card is the only face down card in the face-up deck. Replace the card in the box, and place it on the table.
TOTALLY forget about the cards. Leave them there and carry on with another effect.
DURING another *strong* effect, switch out the MINI deck with an ID of the same colour. This is like a beermat revelation or 'card under glass' etc. They won't notice until later.
Now... near the END of your show, pick up the ID (which used to be the MINI) and look happy "Wow! See, if you leave the deck to dry, it actually grows back to it's normal size again..."
Take the deck and casually ask the spectator "Was it you who chose a card? What was it? I've even forgotten we did a trick!"
As they say their card, spread the ID and show one card is face-down. Remove it, and wait for some applause.
I'd suggest not leaving TOO long before the 'start' and 'end' parts, maybe do two effects in between.
