Does anyone have any ideas for the use of small cards?

I bought a pack of half size (patience size?) Bikes a while ago and have never used them. They are very cute ( ) and I'd like to use them more.

I have just the one idea that I got from Daryl's revelations, but that's my lot.

Foolishly I figured that since I was only limited by my imagination I would come up with loads of killer routines.
This has not happened. I'm obviously not as good as I thought I was.

Does anyone have ideas or can tell me where to look?

Thanks.

Mark

or
a big version of photo coin.
or

See Party Animal (Matthew J Dowden) for a great "little card" trick.
Magic Disco Man - Great Idea with the shrinking deck - Cornelius Card Case may also be helpful for this routine!

Try:
Cornelius Shrinking Card case opener.

Selected card to wallet -

Himber Shrink the card

Then show that the rest of the deck have followed suit. Tiny cards

Expand the selected card as the only full size card in the mini deck

Just a thought!

ambitious card where the entire deck shrinks under cover of a hankerchief - all except their card which remains normal.

selection appears in mini I.D

deck vanish - it appears in your wallet - they dont beleive you, you prove it.. their selection is the only face down selection in the pack.

they select a card from a normal deck, the selection instantly vanishes.. they can examine deck.. you hand them a mini deck.. they can open it and look through.. their card is folded up and in the middle

transposition of 2 selections.. one mini deck selection and one normal. under seemingly impossible conditions the selections transpose.. the mini selection found amongst the normal deck and vice versa.

card selected from blue backed deck. vanishes.. a red mini deck is pulled out. only one mini blue selection.. specs card

you bring out a mini deck to open with, take the cards out.. realise the deck is too small.. so reach into the mini box and pull out normal size deck of cards!!

There is one where the spectator chooses a card, and of course lost in the deck. When you riffle through the cards it jumps out of the deck. If you want details send me a message, I'd have to play with it for a bit to job my memory and I've got a really busy next few days so I won't have time this week.

Thank you all, there's some good stuff here.
I really like the idea of having a card grow rather than shrink. It's unexpected - a shrinking card is quite easy to hide (from a spec's point of view) and It'll be great to get away with the opposite. Very very bold :D. I'm going to play around with that one I think.

Thanks bmat, this sounds like the one I am using from Daryl's DVD. It's very easy, takes next to no practice and with a humourous delivery gets brilliant reactions.

I'm also gonna play around with it being an ACR finisher. Good idea there..... Now, how to get the signature shrunk.

Cheers,

Mark.

A great little 'gag' is to reach into your pocket and say 'Awww, no! Don't you hate it when your wife [or partner, or mother] washes your clothes on a high-temperature wash and they shrink?"

Bring out the cards and state...

"No, not the trousers... the playing cards! Hmmm, they usually grow back to normal size after they dry out... that's a pain. Oh well, let's give it a try..."

Take the cards from the deck, fan them out. Ask the spectator to take a card, replace it. Before they do, you turn the deck face-up, so that their face-down card is the other way around.

Pretend that nothing is wrong... they may look at you strangely, but don't say a word.

Fan out the cards again, face-up to show their card is the only face down card in the face-up deck. Replace the card in the box, and place it on the table.

TOTALLY forget about the cards. Leave them there and carry on with another effect.

DURING another *strong* effect, switch out the MINI deck with an ID of the same colour. This is like a beermat revelation or 'card under glass' etc. They won't notice until later.

Now... near the END of your show, pick up the ID (which used to be the MINI) and look happy "Wow! See, if you leave the deck to dry, it actually grows back to it's normal size again..."

Take the deck and casually ask the spectator "Was it you who chose a card? What was it? I've even forgotten we did a trick!"

As they say their card, spread the ID and show one card is face-down. Remove it, and wait for some applause.

I'd suggest not leaving TOO long before the 'start' and 'end' parts, maybe do two effects in between.

Ya know, now that I think about it I do believe I saw the effect I described at a Daryl lecture.
