Driving to a gig on Friday night along the M25. Came across an awful accident and was stranded on the motorway for about an hour while air ambulances and goodness knows what else arrived to clear up the mess.

It's fine line between this world and the next. It certainly brings it all home to you when you see bodies scattered on the tarmac.

I was in the car with my wife the other night and the car in front of us was hit from the side. I had to brake quite hard to avoid running into the back of them as we were doing about 40mph at the time. It was pretty bad. I stopped to call the police and ambulance and my wife was in tears from the shock. I was quite shaken up myself and we weren't even the ones that got hit. But we were only one car behind so it could have been us. It does make you think.

Things like this are really horrible. I saw one when I was driving on the M20 once, a car in front swapped lanes and clipped the front of another car. Both span off the motorway and through the hedge. I stopped and so did some others but I was too shaken up to be much use.

The police took my statement and told me to go home, never did find out if the people were ok and I'm not really sure that I want to know.

I think it is incidents like this that should remind people that driving a car is a responsability that should be taken with the gravest respect.
People get very blaise about such an activity as it is so common.
My mother was killed in a car accident when a boy racer lost control of his car 19 years ago now and I am always acutely aware of how a seemingly normal everyday activity can end up as a meaningless tragedy.

Just started a new job (hence not been here for a while), and I have to drive over 60miles each day on 3 motorways, and some of the sites I say would turn you ill. People on their phones, texting, brushing their teeth!!

And I bet most have not even got licenses or insurance. It is very very wrong!!!

i treat Road traffic accidents (RTA'S) every day its not pretty but your right greedoniz folk should spend a couple of days in an e&a seeing how stoooopid it is to speed in your car....my mates extract the urine from me quite a bit about being cautious but their not boy raceers and know that really truly its so bloody daft

I was in the car travelling back from somewhere local in the dark. The car in front was a sports car going far too fast. At one bend it span straight off the road and down into what looked like a deep ditch.

My mum stopped the car and we jumped out with torches and medic kits (we're both EMT-As). To find the car upside down, sinking in a (shallow, luckily) river. We got the driver out, and found out she was driving in stiletto high heels, and using her phone! Luckily she had no serious injuries but I hope shes learnt her lesson.

I'v been in three car accidents and been run over by cars while on my motorbike twice. None of these were my fault, I wish people would just take more care. One accident left me with life-threatening injuries.

A few months ago, a bloke drove straight into the back of my mums car on the motorway because he was texting on his phone. He seemed completely oblivious because he made out that is wasnt his fault because hes never had an accident before! The car was written off, and my mum was traumatised because he completey destroyed the back of the car, which is where her beloved dog would usually travel.
