Hi,

Can anyone tell me the name of the Max Maven Booklet on Equivoque and if it is still available?

Cheers,

James

If I'm not mistaken, it's "Verbal Control" available at
http://www.magicbookshop.com/product_in ... 1d84f14c84

I read somewhere that it was on equivoque, but I'm not sure.

Currently Reading "House of Mystery" (Abbott, Teller), Tarbell, Everything I can on busking

In my opinion, the best booklet on teh subject is Docc Hilfords E'voque.

He makes the whole process very smooth with no hesitation or pausing to work anything out in between.

As said the Maven booklet is Verbal Control, and isn't too bad.

However, if you want the full S.P., follow Abraxus' advice...

It's mostly about performance anyway, and that's kind of why Maven's (Goldstein's) work may be a little off-tangent!

berglas would do it with 20-30 items on a table...genius...

best advice i can give is to think about how you phrase the "non" questioning...

i personally phrase it as "intuitively, point to a row please..."

"thanks, now touch any two items..."

"and now pass me one of them..."

that kinda thing..learn by doing! :D

Great advice.

I would also say, don't be overly verbose in your questions/answers... keep them short, use simple instruction, and that way people are less likely to remember or challenge the syntax.

Wow - thanks for all the responses guys. Has Berglas published a book or pamphlet on the subject or including it?

Thanks again,

James

no...well, he did kind of, but in his book, which you cant get anymore...it went for £150 when it was first published, you might see it on e-bay if any madman decides to sell theirs...

but im sure theres some performances on YouPube or elsewhere...

lewis jones's books - 7th heaven or 500 forces, cant remember which off the top of my head has a section on it...and i think there's a book by jack dean, maybe him, that gives an over view...try stephens magic emporium for that...just search for equivoque...

It's in his astonishingly useful "Encyclopedia of Impromptu Card Forces" (the 500 forces thingy)

I'll agree with you on this point but as much as I love this variation (and I use it daily, it would seem) there are those situations in which you cannot apply the principle without some serious alteration... I refer of course to remote work such as with telephone or in a chat room. I even made the mistake of not correcting my self on this in an article that went out a month or two back for THE ORACLE magazine in that (in my mind) I don't distinguish between the two.
