Access to the restricted area?

Postby SpongeBallSlight-of-hand » Oct 29th, '07, 04:06

I've been on these forums awhile now and I was wondering what it takes to get into the restricted areas to discuss things such as sleights.

I think I've showed a respectable amount of knowledge to be able to get into one of these areas.

Thanks.

Best regards
Kevin

This is going to sound smug, but it's not meant to: read the rules and all shall be revealed.

It's all in the Access to Restricted Area forum. Basically, sooner or later (perhaps never) you'll receive an invite from one of the mods via PM.

Unfortunately, it is people who suggest themselves or ask for access that generally do NOT get invited in.

The reasons being is that if you WANT to be in there, then you don't UNDERSTAND WHAT THE BENEFITS ARE.

Wow, it was just an inquiry. Harsh words, harsh words.

No man, not harsh words.

Just trying to get a point across... generally, people who get invited in have no idea or expectations about the invitation.

Not harsh at all...

I can see why that was taken as pretty harsh - or at the very least, patronising - with the CAPS and all.

I'm not entirely sure how you can draw a line from 'is interested in accessing the various benefits of, and contributing to, the restricted area' to 'has no idea about it or what the benefits are'.

At the same time, a quick read of the notes on that section does warn anyone off asking questions about it.

Praise the Lord... someone actually read the notes and understood what my message meant!

The CAPS were meant to indicate the very key phrases that Mr Sponge had missed out on entirely from the Restricted Area FAQ.

You see, many people just ask, without thinking.
