Anyone remember the Sid Vicious leg video? Lemme see if I can go find a clip on youPube (thanks, Siege!)..

WARNING! This is not for the faint hearted, it's quite painful to watch!

On topic! Here's a clip of Callahan v. Angel

http://www.tvweek.com/blogs/james-hibbe ... een_tr.php

Does anyone else find it hilarious, all the wobbling about? "You claim... you claim"... he's kinda like a psychic weeble! (Showing my age a bit, there)

Also, don't they all seem to have the same voice? Kinda like one of those insane preacher types. BE GAWWWN FAAWL DEEEMON! LEAVE THIS CHAIRLD AND BE GAWWN!!

Uri was pretty quick to get up... maybe he was gonna steal the envelope and switch for another, then come up trumps with the goods! Hehe...

I'm still 100% sceptical when it comes to "real psychic powers", so have to commend Criss on standing up to one of these "psychics" even if it has been done to death... =oP

bu**er, I loved Jim's performance! In my opinion, Criss's challenge was uncalled for. b*****.

Ok... the fight was more or less "arranged" as I've been told, many folks complaining that Jim couldn't act his way out of a wet paper bag... whether this is just a cover story or not I can't say, only that this is what is coming from those associated with the production... a show that seriously needed ratings in that is was sitting in the toilet waiting for the flush, it was so bad.

But as to Angel's antics... he's a putz that's all there is too it.

It really does look like amateur dramatics to me...did they get to say BS on American telly? Or did NBC censor?

WWF, WWE what does it matter? Since Man Kind, (Nick Foley) left and the Big Red Machine took his mask off its never been the same.

Yeah I like to watch idiots beat each other up in scripted form...sue me.

It was rather obvious, wasn't it.

Let's face it, guys, this isn't a serious show. It's aimed squarely at the pro wrestling fan mentality. The elimination show format itself has evolved to the point where part of the schtick is to have rows, either amongst the judges (who, if you look at other examples of this odious format have clearly defined, antagonistic roles), or with the contestants. The next step is probably to generate spats between contestants. It's interesting to observe, but don't fall for it - unless you believe in wrestling.

I've seen scuffles, which were considerably more convincing and scary than that, down at the local post office on Old Folk's Pension day :D !

Mick Foley, not Nick Foley...

Tomo - I disagree with the pro wrestling mentality. It's geared towards "reality" show fans - more the Survivor crowd than anyone else.

Pro wrestling fans are well aware of the kayfabe - something the reality show fans haven't picked up on (astonishingly). They still think those Survivor contestants are in danger, Simon Cowell is truly evil, and Jim Callahan really intended to throw a punch. you may think wrestling fans are dumb...but I guarantee any WWE fans who watched Phenomenon saw right through it (something nearly 100% of the magic cafe membership still hasn't done).

I can't help but feel if someone sandbagged James Randi like that, you wouldn't be so quick to judge their actions.

I am no big fan of Angel - this is no mystery...

Still, I can't help but wonder:

Who is the one on tv?

Who is the one that so many threads are dedicated to?

Who is the one who is immediately recognized by the overwhelming majority of laymen?

You? No.

Me? No.

Criss Angel.

Mike.

There have been lots of books written about Hitler too, or any other figure, so not quite sure what the point is...the show just looks a bit silly to me like X Factor and its ilk (WWF comparison seems apt since they are staging conflict). Stuart Cumberland is outspoken in his support of the show, and there are some positive comments on the mentalist forums, but generally, it appears that the format is not working particularly well.

Is there really that big a difference?

Stupid is, is Stupid Does -- Forest Gump's Momma

Now, with a writers strike upon the horizon, we are going to see even more lame low budget KRAPOLA on the tube along side a plethora of re-runs (like we don't get enough of those already).

Yep...it's time to toss the 20th Century Altar of Commerce and Programmed Stupidity out the Window... sadly, most of us are addicted to what it gives to us so freely :?
