Hello. I have just started to learn magic and have some knowledge in Neuro-Liguistic Programming. Although I have only found information on NLP relating to therapy, change work, communication, business, I think NLP and magic are fields that overlap quite a bit, not only when it comes to hypnosis and mentalism, wich would be the most evident links between them. Once I watched a professional magician on a TV show that produced a anesthesia effect on a girl from the audience with a technique that amazed me for it's speed and simplicity, without all that typical trance work. It appeared to me that it was just a couple of anchors (sorry for those that aren't familiar to the NLp terminology). I was wondering if anyone in this forum have knowledge on NLP and apply it in magic and illusionism and if you can give suggestions of books or other material about the relationship between the subjects.

There are some useful categories and techniques in NLP regarding rapport and accessing cues that are useful, and I saw a wonderful lecture on pre-show that demonstrated how NLP was useful for getting a participant to think about important memories and images, which were then used during the show. Others use NLP language as a 'mask' to hide the real workings of their effects and convince the audience that they are simply using psychology and linguistic techniques.
